Im not dismissing it based on GDP alone, but its a pretty big factor, IMO it seems like a pretty big joke to think Russia could swing an election where the 2 parties combined to spend almost as much as their country is worth, and supposedly 100k of facebook ads supposedly made a difference. Frankly i believe its naieve to think Russia was the biggest spender in the last election.
Id be willing to bet mexico, Israel, and Saudi Arabia all spent more on the election than Russia.

A mosquito is pretty small Max but one nearly killed me with cerebral malaria back in 2001. They are experts in propaganda and information warfare. In addition these days there are tools like fMRI scanners to separate the wheat from the chaff with slogans/images etc.
The Russians have some smart cookies who are close enough culturally to truly understand the minds of Westerners.
You don't need to spend excessively with the right connections in place and a willingness to play very dirty and illegal. But you know what? I think I'll just wait and see. I like the trajectory thus far and am willing to wait for all the pieces to fall into place. I have no doubt that the Russians were actively engaged; this cannot be in dispute anymore in light of the mounting evidence. As for Trump, if Mueller exonerates him and the remainder of his inner circle, then so be it. I won't second-guess it. But if I had to bet a dollar, that's not how I'd bet it will play out; there's just too much smoke for me to ignore. And just because Trump denies wrongdoing doesn't make it so (refer to Putin's denials of culpability to Trump, according to Trump). You know Trump is fast and loose and played dirty in business. And look at all the stuff we now fairly well know Trump actually did that he vigorously denied.

LOL, frankly Trump being gone could go either way, but if you think mueller has him at this point, i just think its foolish, he just indibted 13 people, you dont indibt people before they fold, so whose going to be the person to fold on Trump, hows it going to happen?
Cyanide and Happiness have some good ones. The Russians and the Chinese have been allies a long time. They are culturally comfortable with the Chinese in ways the West may never be, for example they have largely let China take over Africa.
Trump making nice with Russia... They will back the Chinese all the way though pretend to be friendly. The politics of exponential human population growth planning has been in full swing for over 20 years.
We have routes out of this through technology but there is a small window to get through. Diplomacy and resisting nationalistic reversion may be boring however we need to take this fight beyond the Earth if we are to survive as a species, never mind countries.
