* Merkel's conservatives eye strongest result since 1990

* Chancellor has chance of absolute majority

* Slim majority could make third term difficult

BERLIN, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Chancellor Angela Merkel won a landslide personal victory in a German election on Sunday, putting her within reach of the first absolute majority in parliament in half a century, a ringing endorsement of her steady leadership in the euro crisis.

Partial results put her conservative bloc - the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU) -- on 42.5 percent, which if confirmed would be their strongest score since 1990, the year of German unification.

The second biggest German party, the centre-left Social Democrats (SPD), suffered their second-worst result since World War Two, polling just 26.4 percent, after a gaffe-filled campaign led by former finance minister Peer Steinbrueck.

During the campaign, Merkel rejected calls from the center-left parties for tax increases on high earners and a mandatory national minimum wage. She argued that both would hurt the economy.

And now watch her make a fool of her self.

The UK labour party leader was talking about wanting to cap retail energy bills a few days ago and also grabbing unused land. he was in full retard mode. he is totally owned by the unions and clueless about how markets work.
If the guy ever gets his hands on power i wouldn't put it past him to try and join the euro ftt :(

Worse than, he knows the workings of nothing and his father was a Marxist, this class of politician are so far removed it turns my stomach and the public may well vote them in again.

If he gets in I am leaving the country.

This board is older than the bull mkt at 5 yrs now. Outside a few nurses and some chatter here and there the transaction tax never really got any real push in this country. If they were going to do a tax it would have been done during this great bull run.
