US Citizens residing in EU - unable to invest in US ETFs??

Thank you for all your suggestions and comments. I was really hoping there is some kind of exception for US citizens. Doesn’t make sense to me. And they still have to pay US taxes, even though they reside in Europe, but are not allowed to invest into US ETFs....?! I know it’s two different...

US Citizens residing in EU - unable to invest in US ETFs??

I am writing on behalf of a family member. IB wrote them they are not allowed to invest in US ETFs because they are residing in Europe, although they are US cititizens. Is that correct? Doesn't seem logical to me. Thank you.

Cyprus - taxes on full time trading?

Thank you for your info. About the healthcare system tax, I was told you only need to pay it after 17 years of residing in Cyprus. Same for the defense tax, which is levied from dividends at 17% - you only need to pay it after 17 years residing in Cyprus.

Cyprus - taxes on full time trading?

Thank you for your recommendation. I will do that. I guess that's the safest route before doing any more planning.

Cyprus - taxes on full time trading?

I've been researching relocating to Cyprus as a trader. I trade etfs and futures. I contacted a tax advisor in Cyprus, and was told there is no tax on my profits from trading. However, I wonder if it's really the case for trading futures? The information I found researching the internet is a...

IE goes blank "Invalid syntax error"

I started to have the same problem yesterday. I removed IE through Add/Remove Programs successfully, but IE is still on my computer, although the icon disappeared from Add/Remove programs. I can't delete the IE folder from Windows Explorer, because it says there is a sharing violation. I can't...

ktm, thanks for your response. I thought you were talking about me originally, so wanted to clear it up. Good trading.

Not receiving daily statements from IB

Thanks to everyone who responded. I am glad I am not alone with this issue. Just a note to ktm: "I have to say that when something like this happens, I try to contact IB before starting a thread here. IMO, the incessant "IB did this" "what about IB doing that" 3 and 4 times a day on here...

Not receiving daily statements from IB

I stopped receiving daily statements from IB on 11/28 for no apparent reason. I e-mailed them, and they said they know about the issue, and are working on it. But it's been more than a week... I am also surprised that nobody here on ET has mentioned the problem yet. So does anyone else have...

    NQZ3, when does it rollover?

Here are a couple of definitions that I collected some time ago: NQ, ES: Rollover: It's always on the first Thursday after the first Friday. Actually it is always the 2nd Thursday UNLESS Friday is the first day of the month, in which case it is the first Thursday. Easy way is to think of it...

Tax when hedging currency risk through IB IDEAL

Hi, I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions: We live in the US, but will be moving to Europe in a year or two. I was thinking hedging our USD account against Euro, and was considering exchanging part of our USD IB account into Euro. I couldn’t find any information on taxes in this...

    Tradestation Lowers Commissions!

One thing that also keeps me from moving more capital to my TS account is that they don't pay any interest in your futures account. If a TS representative reads this, here is a question: do you have any plans to change it? Thanks.

Roll Dates for Currencies and Financial Futures

Darren, thanks for your post. I am not sure if I understand you correctly though. Yes, CBOT doesn't state the FND in their contract spec.'s, but they have a Notice Calendar http://www.cbot.com/cbot/docs/32515.doc So you are saying IB doesn't recognize the FND for CBOT financial futures, and...

Roll Dates for Currencies and Financial Futures

Thanks a lot, Bone, for your response and all the info. Then I will be rolling over 3 days prior to the first notice day when I start trading the financial futures. The volume and spread seem to be ok even 3 days prior to the first notice day.

Roll Dates for Currencies and Financial Futures

I just realized that IB requires to close the Financials futures position 3 business days prior to the first notice day. This is 2 days earlier than the rollover at pit occurs. Does anybody have an experience with this at IB? Do they really liquidate your position 3 days before the first...

Roll Dates for Currencies and Financial Futures

Thanks a lot to everybody who responded, especially Josbarr. One more thing, how do I determine historical first notice days? Looking at the CBOT calendar, they only have dates available starting from 2002. From those dates I concluded that the first notice day is the last business day in the...
