    ES Journal - 2012

Guess most traders took Friday off ahead of the long weekend. This market is dead but it'll be interesting to see where it closes.

Max: Two observations: 1. What about double distribution days? Would the market just test the opposite VA extreme of the closest cluster - meaning we virtually have two separate VAs - ? 2. Days that present a very elongated profile are harder to retrace, so intuitevely I'd think that...

There is a major discrepancy between YM and DIA. Very rare to see this. They are going to synch up at some point. Anyone else noticed it?

Can anyone tell me what S/R level is at 1344, which was the last minor pullback before this last leg up? Thanks in advance.

Ammo: I must be stupid, but doesn't it look so OBVIOUS that we are going to see 50s again following the huge 10-pt rally of the last thirty minutes? It looks like stealing candies from a baby, doesn't it? It's a gimme. Just load up long and you should be good for at least 2 points. It's...

According to my experience, it's actually a bearish indication when it occurs at the highs. It denotes big selling pressure with bulls desperately trying to hold their ground. Intuitevely it may look bullish, but I've seen quite a few of those to say that it has bearish implications. Just...

Thanks. Why is the 30 so important? Yes, I see the resistance now...I was long before 1130 and couldn't figure what brick ES was dealing with, it drove me insane to sit there and see all the up spikes quickly sold into!

LF, it sounds like you are using the first 30min range as the opening range, am I correct? I use the first hour of trading instead. Anyone can show me a level around 32 in ES? That nasty pullback in ES shortly after 1230 stopped in that area but I cant really see anything there...30 was the...

NQ is the market to watch for longs and 2283 is what I am looking at right now. Unfortunately this market is already so oversold right now that I need to pray for a bounce to short.

This is looking more bearish by the minute! I am very confused this AM...I was bullish into the open and was closely watching the 36 area but ES never really respected that level. Yd's close is the next obvious level, with a more than likely shot at yd's LOD.

I absolutely agree with you. By my definition of a trend day, one side - in today's case, bulls - should not have any opportunity to be bailed out of weak positions. If you were a bull averaging down, you'd be counting the cash by now. No trend day at all. Bid down day, yes.

ES just hit yd's globex LOD at 1248.50, this is why it aint testing 1252 yet. However, given the bullishness off the lows, I'd be surprised to not see yd's RTH LOD tested. Bulls clearly made a statement around 1236, saying to the bears: get the hell outta here!

I use Tradestation and today's Hi/Lo data are: 1240 / -1131 Funny, three of us have posted their daily Hi-Lo numbers and they are all different...LMAO! Bigsnack, I agree with the way you use the $tick. I think it's really good to stay away from trading against the trend and getting ready...

Thanks for the quick replies on the $tick. I'm still wondering if we are all seeing the same values though. I am not concerned about the update frequency, but rather the values of each spike. My take on the $tick is that it can be a good overbought/oversold indicator that can help traders...

Hi guys, I saw someone mentioned the $tick shooting to -900 before the big rally if I am not mistaken. How many of you are actually using the $tick as part of their trading decisions? Don't $tick values vary across different data providers? If yes, how can the $tick be a reliable indicator?

Daytrading timeframe question - for experienced and profitable traders only please

I am a daytrader and use 1-2min charts for entries and 10-30-60min charts for guidance. Of course, like many posters pointed out, the daily chart is very important as well. I could never be watching one interval only. The key is to figure out what type of trade setup you are taking. Is it...
