Anyone can show me a level around 32 in ES? That nasty pullback in ES shortly after 1230 stopped in that area but I cant really see anything there...30 was the level I had been eyeing :(

Thought you'd never ask .. haha

The profile you see here is what it looked like about 5 minutes before the low at 31 was put in:

Also note that the pullback around 11:40 after the 33.25 was broken to the upside was to 31.25 -- last point of strong demand, returned there. 30.25 was just as good of a place to look, I was looking there as well but decided to go for 32 instead.

how much slippage did you get ? Today i got slipped 0.5 on 1 lot order....i am surprised to say the least - such a slippage in the most liquid exchange traded market on the earth!!!

have you ever experienced a slippage of 0.5 tick before.

Ammo - if you can answer above it will be very useful as you have the longest experience among us and i assume you trade largest # of cars also. I am talking about slippage experienced trading ES on globex in the last few years, not about the pit days big contract.

Actually, it will be very educational if someone can throw some light on the slippage in sep-oct 2008, as i wasn't trading ES then.

Thank you very much!

Outside of news, the norm would be just the spread (0.25), if you're getting 0.50, that's actually only one tick of slippage, which is as low as it gets.

Back in 2008??? I remember having 2 full points in the ES and over 40 cents in CL - outside of scheduled news & reports.

That said, anything over 1-2 ticks (+ spread) is quite unusual in ES (more in YM and NQ - way more in CL, etc.)

Quote from Laissez Faire:

I look at both 30 and 60 (initial balance).

Frequently, either the high/low is the same on both as is the case today for the high, but I find that the 30 minute is very valuable to watch. For instance, the low was resistance earlier today.

Thanks. Why is the 30 so important?

Yes, I see the resistance now...I was long before 1130 and couldn't figure what brick ES was dealing with, it drove me insane to sit there and see all the up spikes quickly sold into!

Actually, I got 0,5 point slippage on both a long and short today.

Got 0,25 point on a stop loss yesterday. In my experience, even a 0,25 point slippage is rare, but it does happen.

See how price slowed down at the current HOD?

I certainly did not predict that, but it is expected behavior at such levels. One is usually better off taking profits or scaling out if one likes doing that at such levels and then re-enter when the trend resumes (unless one knows with great accuracy what will happen, something I don`t).

Opening range low failed to act as support for now, may be a reversal or it may just be a consolidation before higher.

Have a few baseline scenarios prepared so that you are never surprised by what happens (there are a few exceptions). :)

Thanks for your observation on slippage.

I think you meant "opening range high" has failed to act as resistance for now....correct ?

The problem with cryptic calls is that they are always right, even when they`re wrong. :p

So, another H&S today or what? :)

Yes, they always mention price, but not time - or less frequently time, but not price. :D

I believe that there is very little cryptic about: Hola!. Short ES!. Si!. with a timestamp, but I understand that you only speak Norsk.:p

About your question: Not yet.:)

the vol spike in an up move tells you that you found a nest of offers, doesn't have to turn there but more often then not it does

Well, the vol tells you that you found a nest of stops -- the low range of the bar, the fact that price didn't go very far, tells you that you found offers to hold it :)
