Trading with $0 commissions -- "Robinhood"

I have traded a $500 account up to almost $600 (woo hoo) on robinhood basically to see how viable it is. I have been using it since inception. They have limit, stop, and stop limit orders in addition to market. I hold stocks days to weeks to months so I haven't really tried it on a shorter time...

    ES Journal - 2014

Since 7/21 the NQ has made new highs, ES is close to making new highs, but the TF (Russell) is nowhere near making new highs. Shorting ES and especially NQ is a waste of time, when the TF is so much weaker. Whenever the market breaks, the TF is going to break much harder than ES and NQ as well.

    ES Journal - 2014

Shorting TF makes much more sense than ES right now.

EU - where is it going next?

eur at 1.365. This is a good area to buy. We will see 1.378 again at the least. I still think 1.4+ is possible. What happens when draghi and co decide not to do anything again in june?

    Yen going forward

I don't advocate sitting through a bear market rally. I'd rather trade in and out of the position to improve my price. Yen may go all the way back to the 200 day ma but it will turn down again. "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the...

EU - where is it going next?

Yeah I expected it to break through 1.342 today, but it hasn't. Still I wouldn't call the attempt over just yet. GBP is still strong and I'm willing to wait and see if it happens on Monday. I favor shorting the yen here and cad here.

EU - where is it going next?

I still think 6E is going to 1.342 and then probably on to 1.37. However we've been stuck in a slowly climbing 50 pip channel for weeks now. I expected 6E to hit 1.342 by now but the fact that it hasn't coupled with the lethargic PA may indicate that it needs to drop a bit further before...

    Advice for a Beginner Programmer

I'd pick either C++ or C#. And you can take a community college class and learn almost everything you need in a few courses. Keep trying to code your strategies on the side and bug the teacher for help with your code.

When People Ask "What do you do for a living" What say you?

    I tell them I'm a programmer (I trade algorithmically so it's true).

    Forex Trading Vs. Stock Trading

One other thing is that Forex can be treated as section 1256 or 988. If you are profitable and you make 100k in stocks (short term) and 100k in forex, you'll pay less tax on the forex by opting for section 1256. On the other hand if you lose in forex, then you can treat it as section 988 and...

    EUR/USD start date

I always thought EUR/USD begain trading in 2000. But the other day I happened to pull up a 20 year chart on EUR/USD on TOS and it has data going all the way back to 1993. Can some older/wiser forex trader clarify when EUR/USD began trading?

    long nat gas

Yeah as NG kept falling, I noticed the spreads kept creeping up so I decided to buy the NGJ3-NGV3 spreads as opposed to NGH3 outright. It paid off today as I was able to get out of my spreads without loss even though NG broke down pretty badly. At any rate, I was wrong about NG heading...
