best ways to tell that S or R is holding?

John, I've read a bit of stuff on order flow here on ET and it does seem like it could be useful. The thing I'm trying to get help on is when a level looks like it's holding, and then price trades through it. In the original example, price is trading higher toward an expected R level. It...

best ways to tell that S or R is holding?

Steve, I looked at that guy's videos on YouTube but there are over 150 and they all have the same title! Any chance you can give me a link to the specific video you're talking about? Or maybe another source explaining the two bar break? Thanks.

best ways to tell that S or R is holding?

Great explanation about breakouts. I'm gonna read it a few times so it really sinks in. Another scenario I was thinking about when I wrote the original post is when price breaks through R and then retraces to test that former R as new S. If my goal was to enter long as soon as I became...

best ways to tell that S or R is holding?

You worded it better than I did. I want to know what to look for before entering. And I get your point about there not being an absolute answer, or a definitive one, but I'm sure people have different "setups" that they look for to give them a bit more confidence that the level is likely to...

best ways to tell that S or R is holding?

Yeah, good point. I guess what I mean is that it's easy for me to see when price is blasting through the level. What's trickier is when it seems to respect the level for a bar or two but then, instead of the level continuing to hold, price goes right through it. I'd like to know what...

best ways to tell that S or R is holding?

All good stuff John. Thanks. By expectancy, do you mean the distance between the entry and the next area of R/S? In other words, how far you expect price to go before encountering additional roadblocks?

best ways to tell that S or R is holding?

I'm not following you. Maybe I didn't word my question very well. I'm thinking that there must be ways to verify that R or S is holding before entering.

What is the way to increase accuracy?

best ways to tell that S or R is holding?

I need some help in regards to determining if a level is holding or not in real time. Let's say that price is trading up toward a resistance level that I think will hold and I want to get short at that level. What are the things I should be looking for before entering short? Thanks for your help.

DKM, I'm glad you mentioned that. I'm new so pardon my ignorance, but I was under the impression that there are tapes, pt.3's and channels made up of pt.3's. Isn't it only the later that is considered the "forest" view? I see the FTT's you're referring to but didn't think that as a beginner...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Futures Trading Journal

I'm a beginner (about 2 months behind the thread) so I'm on the Forest Level but am watching for FTT's on that level of resolution. Correct me if I'm wrong but this looks like a good one this morning. No pt.3's on the forest level yet but maybe after this pt.3 channel trades lower, we'll...

After more than 2 months of studying the background material and studying the first half of January (of this thread), here's my first day of watching for FTT's using only ES price and volume. Have a good laugh. Any comments or advice is welcome.

Ok, thanks. I don't remember reading that but then again, I've gone over THOUSANDS of posts in all these threads so it must have slipped by me. I wish it were that simple. You can choose which color to display the volume bars in and their thickness but I need to code a special indicator and...

Hi all, I only discovered this thread around the beginning of the year and have spent the last 2 months studying the background material. Quite a haul! Also, I've read through Jan. 15, 2007 in this thread and am ready to start real-time practice of locating the FTT's using only ES price and...

    The Coming Deflation . . .

That's a good point. So when it comes to predicting the liklihood of deflation, you think that it would require a psychology change in Americans from spendthrift to saver?

    The Coming Deflation . . .

For everybody on this thread who is convinced that the Fed won't allow deflation to occur because it's so destructive, tell me why Japan wasn't able to accomplish that? In other words, the Fed may be intent on preventing deflation but will they be able to? Japan wasn't able to.
