    My 2 main arguments against index investing are a) it is a pure gamble i.e no skill involved, no thinking, you are just betting and hoping and crossing your fingers that the index will go up at least by the time you need the money in 20/30/40 years...and b) you're settling with being 'average'...

    Just read a draft copy of the book (on the web) u recommended. By dealers, you just mean traders. TBH, you cannot know what they are holding. I don't think it even matters.

    choose the wrong index at the wrong time and you are fucked...see nikkei 225 chart for an example

    I agree with the first post, clear conflict of interest. Don't agree with the second post, central banks trading is not the CME's concern.

    Yeah, i have made plenty of live calls/trades (probably hundreds) on this forum over the years, only some of which are on the S&P thread. As you pointed out, many have been very good. I don't really post live trades since very few others do, so i cba either. chubby may have made live calls or...
