Canadian Economy outperforming US on almost every relative metric.

I've personally always viewed Canadians as a proud, industrious people. It's a huge Country with abundant natural resources with a smallish population of about 38M that is largely homogeneous racially with Caucasians at somewhere around 79 percent of the demographic. There's an awful lot...

China Q3-19: Slowest Growth in 27 Years

I get what you're saying and I agree that the economies are extensively intertwined. Tariffs aside; both US political parties and the Nation as a whole generally agrees at present time that China needed to be confronted on it's trade practices. There's also a general consensus now that...

Billionaire investor on Elizabeth Warren as president: Market might not even open

Like all politicians - what Warren says and what Warren does are two different things. She'll require a compliant Congress, and I doubt that she could find the Democratic votes to implement most of her agenda because the numbers just don't add up without a host of universal taxes like a...

Trump says China talks went very well today

That would require an act of Congress, as the 10-Q filings are codified. The SEC has been soliciting companies and investors for comments about whether the current system promotes too much "short term thinking" in the markets. One could make the argument that the SEC has been politicized for...

Trump says China talks went very well today

If corporate earnings continue on today’s pace it strengthens Trump’s hand with China. The two economies are diverging - with China already slowing down at a more rapid rate than the US.

The End of an Era: X_TRADER®’s Final Sunset

They’re not going to invest $$$$ into a platform that they’re not making money on. The days of TT commanding $1800 per month for X-Trader are long long gone and their staff at Evanston is but a shell of its former self. If you want really good alerts, market scanners and data modeling you’re...

What are(were) your most common mistakes in Trading?

Turning a big winner into a big loser requires a hell of a lot of trading range. And from my experience working with clients - it’s not very common. If anything, traders tend to take profits too soon. Cannon balling (adding to losers) is much more common and certainly more ruinous.

I can tell you what the most ruinous mistake is - adding to losers.

    Steepening Yield Curve Spread Trade

In that case, you'll have to roll your bond position several times because if someone dared to make you a Dec 2020 bond market at present it would be ten tics wide... And the dated FF futures will be a couple tics wide and on the thin side depending on your expiry. The dated Eurodollar futures...

    Advice

If you can't easily and cheaply automate your trading system - keep a journal. Since you're scalping you should know that just about all the big swinging dick scalpers on the floor back in the day kept private trading journals. The journal will be more effective if you can manage to be...

    The S&P 500 topped at 3017.8

You sound disappointed. Vice Premier He isn't your run-of-the-mill administrative diplomat - he's Xi's right hand man... And by the way - the bond traders apparently lend credence to the prospects because they hammered the living shit out of the bond market.

    Steepening Yield Curve Spread Trade

You really don't want to trade Fed Funds versus the 30 year future. Do twos or fives to thirties, or one year duration Fed Funds vs fives. FF to 30's is just a monster convexity play that isn't practical - IMO you'd be MUCH better off just being long or short flat price instead of having on...

Lost 7 trades in a row this week, how often will this happen again?

I would always cut my size way back after two losing trades in a row. Then, once I had two winning trades in a row I would restore my bet size. In other words, I wanted to make sure that a market condition that could possibly persist hadn't screwed up my trading system. From my experience -...

Indicators - What indicator in your opinion is the best?

I had a very interesting conversation with John Bollinger at a Eurex Party in Chicago a long time ago. He told me that most people using BB’s are NOT USING THE STUDY CORRECTLY. :wtf: And he found that to be very frustrating.

Most commonly used study indicator in futures market ?

When I day traded for a living - I would print out charts of the Weekly and Daily every so often just to use as a reference. I currently keep them tabbed. I would day trade off of 360, 15, and 5 minute charts. I have always found that using multiple timeframes was incredibly useful in terms...

How do I accurately choose the period for indicators?

I would like to walk you back a step - the first question is: what is your trade holding time frame? Are you day trading, or swing trading, or trading long(ish) term ? That makes a huge difference in terms of the period of data you use and your study sampling parameters.

Indicators - What indicator in your opinion is the best?

Most every traditional technical indicator that I can think of is some sort of variation on the functional theme of: 1. moving average, 2. oscillator, or 3. volatility as it relates to price data or volume over time. There are statistical studies like time series analysis that are also quite...
