    Anyone have success with Pyramiding

The whole idea is that when the market isn't trending (chop) you'll take a series of relatively small losses. When the market starts to trend, you up the position size at intervals in the trend. It's sound risk management since no none can really predict when a trend will start or stop. All...

    IRS - American tyranny

I do recall a case where a bunch of contractors working for Microsoft. They wanted to get the same retirement plan treatment as regular employees and sued.

    IRS - American tyranny

I don't think this thread is about the tax code. It's about a loonie-tunes crashing his plane into a building.

    IRS - American tyranny

Actively suppressed? Nah, the horse is already out of the barn. His "manifesto" has been copy/pasted all over creation.

    IRS - American tyranny

I already read the whole thing before the web site was taken down. I still can't figure out what the IRS (or anyone else for that matter) *specifically* did to him. What's his *specific* beef? It's just a bunch of rambling BS.

    IRS - American tyranny

If that's really the guy who crashed his plane in to the IRS building, he's clearly beyond the pale. No one likes the IRS, but this guy was clearly off his rocker.

    closing short calls/puts @ 5cents

I have short calls on SPY at 119. SPY won't go to 119 in the next 2 days. I made a bunch of money on them and they're not worth the transaction cost to close.

    The $555,000 Student-Loan Burden

I'm a libertarian at heart and I'm left scratching my head how the gubment even got involved in college loans in the first place. Our founding fathers would have an aneurysm if they could see the sort of crap going on now.

Reverse Call or Put Calendar Spreads--Who uses this strategy?

I do iron condors and they have negative bid/ask. I get filled on them no problem.

Sounds like the perfect scam, therefore it's got to be too good to be true.

    The $555,000 Student-Loan Burden

Clearly something in this thread touched a nerve. Someone keeps creating throw-away usernames and using them to argue with themselves. :D

    IB idealpro forex commissions

Yes and yes (sort of). IB's bid/ask spread isn't fixed like the bucket shops like Oanda and IBFX because they're an ECN. IB's spread is typically really small and the bid and ask you're seeing are real, not synthetic like at the buckets. If you trade large enough, the commission is...

    The $555,000 Student-Loan Burden

My wife and I already decided and made it clear up front to our kids that: 1) We would not be co-signing loans for college, cars, houses, etc. 2) We would not endanger our future financial security by borrowing from our IRAs or 401Ks for college. 3) The net tuition after scholarships has to...

Reverse Call or Put Calendar Spreads--Who uses this strategy?

Are you using portfolio margining? I haven't heard of SPAN before. Normal margining would treat a spread like this as if the shorts were naked so your margin would be gobbled up quickly. The risk graph is similar to a straddle, but without the potential of a volatility crush i.e. a sudden...

why do people recommend covered calls.

I gave up stock altogether last year - short or long. Too risky. It's much easier controlling risk with pure option trading.

Scaling into a position - any suggestions on how to manage the downside?

I contend it simply doesn't work at all long-term for anyone.
