Fasting as 'an amazing way of life'.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20223457 I can produce endless studies of CAD-improvement on keto. Death from CAD is ALL about VLDL. The structural difference between VLDL (from sugars) and ingested fats.

That's his tune now, but his "institute" was promoting 10g of fat per day back in the 80s. The Snackwell fad hit when his books were popular. Sugar is the leading cause of disease in this country, not fats. Same can be stated about CAD. He's woefully out of touch. Med-diet, etc.

It was Dr Weiss (Ethan?) at UCSF some time in late 2017/early 2018.

Autophagy is THE goal of the true 5/2 fast. The weight loss is the perk. Drop a few cals her and there and you can reduce weekly cals by 30% or more. Maintaining that 8/8 cutoff helps as well.

Yeah, I don't think he had any direct association but the fat-free movement was attributed to Ornish, rightly or wrongly.

Just the memory of it has me drooling uncontrollably.

Yeah, it's intake more than choices. Autophagy is moot if you activate digestion. I attended a TED-like talk at UCSF for practitioners and the speaker was convinced that a legit 5/2 fast undertaken at 50 would add 10 years.

There are plenty of simple carbs in Paleo. I don't know how they limit them, but berries? ALL fruit is Paleo. OK, so when we lived to an avg lifespan of 22yo we ate berries. There is phytonutrient-benefits from fruits, but you've either got to take the hit from VLDL intake to get a meaningful...

T-day was rough. Wife and her mom are gourmet and the gravy was amazing. I went off an (almost) two month keto due to the mashed potatoes and stuffing. I don't even want the turkey. We had an Amaretto cake and I may have eaten 90% of it. I told the family that Steph's mom binged on it. 100%...

Haha our live-in just dropped off a veggie burger and now she's going to have to eat it. It does suck though because it smells great.

I juiced kale and ginger while on keto. IIRC my carbs were <8/day.

He's not lifting much, but I've just started to use the HS plate loaded as he prefers it to me spotting him.

It's open season when you derail on keto or fasting. Who's going to count every calorie with any semblance of accuracy? Abstinence is binary.

I will say that the adrenaline will keep you up, so 1-2mg of melatonin is in order.

What is the consensus of guys here who lift on their plate-loaded stuff? My youngest just started lifting as he hit 6' and we are not concerned about epi-fusion. One of my gyms has a lot of 55lb plates and six on there is not remotely 330 on flat bench. It's harder initially as you have to...

You're really lean already. I would only entertain it if you're after the longevity aspects (who isn't?); base-pair additions, etc. I'll update my weight each month. I do a 3-split workout with my youngest and am basically at maintenance on lifting, so the only impact should be LBM/fat loss. I...

Open a bag of chips (that you like) and dump the recommended serving into a bowl. No way that you won't exceed (the reco serving and) your caloric goals if that shit is on the menu. I could eat a family-size bag of white cheddar Cheetos in a sitting. It's not something we buy as a result...

Bullshit. Explain indigenous tribes living well into their 80-90s with zero modern meds or "lifestyle changes."
