    Private luxury aircraft, international travel

I was a professional helo pilot and have been flying fixed wing since I was 17 so I hopefully have a little to offer on this topic. First, I'll tell you that I no longer fly. The reason I no longer fly is because I can't be sure that I'll be able to go fly for at least an hour a week, do several...

The new age of Ayn Rand: how she won over Trump and Silicon Valley

I think they picked the only two people in Silicon Valley who hold this view (I call bullshit on the Jobs part, even though I'm no fan of his it doesn't jibe with the rest of his public worldview) but put it in the title anyway. If anyone understands the value of an economic ecosystem it's...

Air China suspends NK flights. How NK's destruction will affect the markets?

Perhaps all this talk of impending war was just a tiny tad bit overblown? https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/despite-talk-of-a-military-strike-trumps-armada-was-a-long-way-from-korea/2017/04/18/e8ef4237-e26a-4cfc-b5e9-526c3a17bd41_story.html?utm_term=.8786d2ac1e67

    es vs. equally liquid instrument

If you assume you eat a tick on entry and exit, clearly your math is correct. Again, no need to get your panties in a wad my friend, settle down and let's learn from one another here. Can you perhaps shed equal light on the rest of your comments, or is "You are still wrong" the best I'm gonna...

    es vs. equally liquid instrument

Not sure if you were trying to add a picture, you ended up with a bunch of blank space with "ck is 0.01 cent" at the bottom? I will admit that adding pictures is something done by more sophisticated users. There's no point arguing about "transaction costs". If you assume that you only submit...

    es vs. equally liquid instrument

I've traded both these things extensively just like you, no need to get testy. Let's go through them one by one. * Sizing - can choose any position size. - True * Lower trading costs - approx 40% less - First off commissions and exchange fees are generally going to add up to less with ES...

    es vs. equally liquid instrument

Actually most of this is simply incorrect, actually all of it except the sizing.

Software Engineer: $7,000 a year in China, $8,400 in India... $90,000 in U.S.

Well technically they are "former H1B holders" right?

I'd say this shows that Verizon has poor management with limited technical expertise, something any of us who have dealt with them would probably agree on.

Broker problems during stock market crises?

Unless you have your tinfoil hat firmly affixed, then you'll be protected. Just a tip, you may want to provide proof and names when you make an accusation like this up, otherwise we'll treat you like a conspiracy theory crackpot which is in fact all you'd be without some modicum of proof.

Software Engineer: $7,000 a year in China, $8,400 in India... $90,000 in U.S.

How many of them work for $17,000 a year?

Air China suspends NK flights. How NK's destruction will affect the markets?

Once again, NK has enough basic 1940s artillery aimed at Seoul to destroy most of the city and kill countless people in the first barrage. Anti-missle capability doesn't do jack against that.

Software Engineer: $7,000 a year in China, $8,400 in India... $90,000 in U.S.

You won't listen! The offshore guy that's worth $110k is getting paid close to $110k. They're here on H1B visas, they're working for Google in India getting market rates minus a little bit for cost of living differential. The ones getting paid $18k generally aren't worth even that, they only...

Software Engineer: $7,000 a year in China, $8,400 in India... $90,000 in U.S.

Absolutely. I've said this at least 3 times on this thread alone, software development isn't linear and a good dev can easily be 10x more productive than an OK one. Productive doesn't mean lines of code written, it means good code, well documented, minimal bugs and easy to debug, easy for anyone...

Software Engineer: $7,000 a year in China, $8,400 in India... $90,000 in U.S.

You misunderstood us. There are spectacular Indian and Chinese software devs. They are all making market rates or close to it, as they should be. This thread is about dirt cheap offshore teams, where you get what you pay for. Huge difference.

The professions who need H1B visas don't have unions and won't any time soon.

Anyone knows why usa residents can't open forex account in hotforex or other brokers?

This post doesn't make any sense to me, would be able to restate it? Are you saying that clearing has different capital requirements than brokering and you think this is unfair? You think exchanges are somehow obsolete???

Most cost effective way to protect against black swan event?

I was just talking about paying the skew over and over for years without a Black swan, but you're right, you have to think about that too!

Most cost effective way to protect against black swan event?

There is in fact significant skew in index OTM puts so it's even more expensive to hedge a swan than it otherwise would be.

Air China suspends NK flights. How NK's destruction will affect the markets?

ROK is Republic of Korea, which you probably know as South Korea. Political drama aside it's doing relatively well at the moment.
