    Goodbye!

Damn, Am I the only one finding this letter uber childish? Defending weed in his last letter to his investors...A 50 something hippie teenager... I cant' see PTJ or Simmons being so irrespectful with their investors, and they aren't basing their success on 2 year track record. The guy is...

IB TWS: A tragedy in the making?

I'm on 898.4 and I have a weird problem with id sequence for orders. I stock the last id on each spreadsheet I use but when I go from one spreadsheet to another, the orders won't transmit even if id > the one used on former spreadsheet. I need to reset id sequence whenever I change...

How many unemployed do you know?

One friend lost her job in a computer software company in Singapore, she came back to France and found a new job. My uncle is working at Caterpillar in Grenoble, France. There have been some layoffs last year but finally they just reduced his working hours. That's all.

Thanks, I definitely have to investigate TWS options more... It would have saved me a few K's if I had unchecked it earlier...I'm such a mess with stupid errors like that.

    TWS API settings question

Hello, In TWS API settings, there's a "download open orders on connection" option. What is it supposed to accomplish? Is it created to avoid transmiting orders from last connection that are still valid, like if there is a resting dde link in the spreadsheet that would transmit an order when...

I heard a little rumor, 80% of volume on CME GLOBEX is AUTOMATED?

I think 80 % refers to "algo to manual" and "algo to algo" volume. There is still 20% of "manual to manual" volume, which is quite big.

    MRCI last few years results

I don't discuss their work. They searched historical relationships in spreads, tested it and published it... It's fine. They quite made an exhaustive list of what seemed both logical in the seasonal/fundamental and profitable through backtests, which is great. But it's just weird to see some...

    MRCI last few years results

It's not only 2008 and meats were bad as well( I hope I didn't make any error/inverting while copying them from the book). I forgot to say I just tested spreads that had more than 90% profitable years in the book... Let's take 2 of them :- Buy Jun Hogs/Sell Oct Hogs from 02/17 to 03/10...

    MRCI last few years results

Hello, As an aspiring spread trader, I bought the "encyclopedia of commodity and financial spreads" from MRCI team and an other one from Courtney Smith. Both were good and I would like to thank JLaw for his advice because It greatly helped me understand the mechanics of spreads. However...

WSJ today: Democrats Weigh Tax on Financial Transactions

I think that we will have to keep proactive and PRESENT ALTERNATIVES when we are writing our reps, commenting on newspapers... We have to say that for example, FMI proposals to create an insurance funded by banks is a better alternative if we want Wall Street to pay for the crisis ,and not Main...

WSJ today: Democrats Weigh Tax on Financial Transactions

Really not sure about that... Western countries can't even cooperate and curb tax evasion, they won't be able to impose what would be the first ever worldwide tax... Especially since every country is sovereign on their tax and would literally hit jackpot by not following the US... they would get...
