TWS API settings question

Hello,

In TWS API settings, there's a "download open orders on connection" option. What is it supposed to accomplish? Is it created to avoid transmiting orders from last connection that are still valid, like if there is a resting dde link in the spreadsheet that would transmit an order when connecting?

I hope it is the case. You can't imagine the number of times I have done this after working on my spreadsheets, reseting TWS ids...The last time was ...today( -480$ lol)

yeah you got it.

also if you have passive order entry programs or risk management tools, useful to know what orders were out before you started up.
 
Thanks, I definitely have to investigate TWS options more... It would have saved me a few K's if I had unchecked it earlier...I'm such a mess with stupid errors like that.

If you are running an ATS with their API, that setting means do not send the orders upon connection. When the ATS is ready for it, it will be asked for.
