    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

For us short-term trades, single most important thing is to be able sense that it's not one of our days and leave our desks with a managable loss for the day. Yesterday, I was very stubborn and kept on trading accumulating a lot of small losses. I ended up over trading and get my mind messed...

I used to have such a job. But I had job related distractions and felt guilty about getting paid and not concentrating 100% on my regular job--I almost spent 50% of my time on trading related activities. It's a big jump to trade full-time especially if you have wife&kids to support. I don't...

I agree with you about the opportunities in FX. Although, I've been having problems milking it lately. I used change my trade bias easily two but last two weeks I became stubborn. I started thinking too much about my equity curve and $$$ instead of planning better trades and exits. I can...

Good ones :) I screwed up my time-frames and resisted taking the short side after the morning eco numbers. Holding a position overnight and see it go much more in my direction after I closed it made me "insane". I should have taken a 30min brake! Not a good day for me so far. Chinook

Good job! I'm not sure either. Probably, it'll be choppy sideways or choppy slight trend up maybe 20-40 pips... Chinook

It's always good to take breaks from the markets. You'll be back with a clearer mind. Chinook

Yes, it's the quad witching week. But I'm not very familiar with FX options. Are they expiring too this week? Chinook

I know. I almost never hold positions before news and I don't usually get pissed like this. But I think I'm seeing effects of overtrading from Tuesday day session. It created too much self-talk. Indeed Eur seems to be heading towards 1.2. Chinook

I'm trading. I'm in a little shock because EurUsd went down as I wrote here last night. It was just a hunch anyway. I made some overnight gains but closed the trade before 8:30 am this morning. Then EurUsd tanked much more of course and I got pissed. I got into couple of longs--revenge trading...

I'm short and I'm planning to hold it until US open. The triple bounce from the 1.2300 area and the upper triangle line might be telling us that the upwards momentum is done for now. I'm expecting a probe of 1.2180-1.2190 area during the European session. This is my bet for now. Chinook

I don't think anyone knows better than you. This is a worldwide casino :) Just bet a small % of your account, obey your stops and don't get too obsessed with your positions-- a little obsession is OK, we're all human. Chinook

Thanks Ebo. I'd like to go back and read what I wrote. That reminds me what the hell I was doing/thinking at that time :) We have a good mix of people here with interesting comments so people can read useful stuff besides my usual mumblings :) Chinook

I over traded today. At the end, I ended up losing 1 tick and plus the commissions. At least, I made up for decent sized earlier loss. Chinook

I'm new to FX too. I don't think we're seeing anything new here except wider intraday ranges. The game is still the same. Everybody predicts something, try to tie the loose ends with news/events/politics. I don't even look at the data after the news announcements. Charts are telling us...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

This is kind of weird-- it is just staying couple of pips over 1.2250. Maybe it's going down this time... This became an obvious support--it has to be taken out. Otherwise it'll be free lunch for the ones who entered a few pips over 1.2250. At least, there should be some kind of spike down...

I'm waiting for the 1.2250 support to break. Then we might see a 20-30 tick slide. Chinook

I believe the advantage of joining a remote prop trading firm would be to save money with CME's new incentive program. But that program is for a limited time. Anyway, IB has a good volume discount and once can add the cheaper Globex fees with a leased seat. I'm not doing high volume. But for...

What is the proprietary trading application, is that some software you wrote and interfaced to IB TWS? Have you looked into leasing a CME seat? It's about $3500/month but you might be able to save almost $1 per transaction. Chinook
