    Opening Orders - 2008

No fills; had quite a few blocks on news and still haven't waded back into banks and brokers yet. Have a good weekend all. I'm quite sure I won't, given that the Steelers face Jacksonville this weekend and have been playing like they are ready to hit the golf course. Miracles do happen...

    The Opening Orders Thread

3 long fills (one a small test position), 3 small wins, +214, 4600 shares. No big deal on starting a new thread, but since this one has a generic title we could keep it for simplicity's sake. Don could always go and edit the first post to put in the links to the old threads.

A long win and a short loss canceled each other out.

    The Opening Orders Thread

No fills. Had a lot pulled on news, go figure. You'd think even news would dry up on Christmas Eve. Enjoy the holidays, everyone. I'll be back at it on the 28th.

    The Opening Orders Thread

I was a bit disappointed when my stocks were opening up and I was getting no fills, then a few opened a little late that I got filled on. 4 short wins, +321, 6100 shares Again not as productive as I would have liked given expiration, but you take what you get. Merry Christmas to those...

    The Opening Orders Thread

1 long fill for a modest win, +77, 2000 shares. A little hasty on the exit in hindsight, but I try not to push my luck on longs given an up open and a slumping market post open. My exits are manual as well.

2 long losers and a small short win, -288, 5000 shares

    The Opening Orders Thread

2 short wins (one a small test position), 3 long - a small win, small loss, and a scratch, +426, 7400 shares Supersized one of my long orders (again) and again got lucky. Got distracted by some jumpy price action. Gotta keep following the John Wooden axiom - "be quick but don't hurry".

    The Opening Orders Thread

Nothing much today. 1 long loser, 1 short partial fill loser, -71, 2400 shares Steelers look like they have mailed in the season...

    The Opening Orders Thread

2 long losers, -479.50, 3000 shares. Just one of those days, I guess. Steelers try to regain their dignity against a tough Jacksonville club on Sunday. This game could make or break the season...

    The Opening Orders Thread

1 long win, +273, 2000 shares. My order spreadsheet adjusts to make sure I don't buy an up open or sell a down open on a stock. Although if you look at the open as strictly an arb play, there may be nothing wrong with doing that. Since the specialist can't buy an up open, if you do you won't...

Played it conservatively as well, bumped up my envelope and got no fills.

    The Opening Orders Thread

3 short wins(one a test position), 2 long wins, +902, 7300 shares More fills than I expected on such a flat open. Even got lucky after "supersizing" one of my short orders by accidentally selling more instead of buying to close.

    The Opening Orders Thread

Only 1 short fill on a test position, so scratch today.

    The Opening Orders Thread

2 short wins (one a tiny test position), +280, 2100 shares Can the Steelers knock off the hated Patriots in Foxboro? Tune in Sunday to find out...

    No fills for me either.

    The Opening Orders Thread

Only 1 short fill on a test position, so another scratch day. First decent snowfall of the season here today- 4-5 inches. Actually got about 4 minutes worth of driveway shoveling out of my 4 year old; looks like I'm stuck doing the rest.

    The Opening Orders Thread

5 long fills, 3 wins (but two were 100 share test positions), 1 loss, 1 scratch, for an overall scratch day, 7700 shares. Jumpy price action again today.

First trading day of the month sometimes yields extra fills. Didn't happen for me today though. 2 short, scratch. They were whipping around quite a bit too.
