What are some futures contracts that should be available, but aren't?

i'd always been curious at how the futures markets are more concentrated than stocks, with only a few dozen actively traded futures markets, compared to thousands of liquid stocks. is this bc main participants in futures have historically been the global macro traders deploying billions, who...

What are some futures contracts that should be available, but aren't?

so there are futures contracts for frozen orange juice, electricity, bitcoin and all kinds of other random stuff in various corners of global markets i also think there should be futures contracts for: - price of insurance premiums, standard contract as 200x avg monthly premium of 4 person...

Making $100mm from trading with no LPs/outside capital

lol, maybe you're just more enlightened than most then being recognized publicly as a success and associated with a strong brand still counts for a lot in some places, especially with the social pressure. example is in parts of NY, the founder/ceo of a no-name startup firm wouldn't quite be...

Making $100mm from trading with no LPs/outside capital

So Ken Griffin made the news a couple times this week with real estate purchases in London and New York..and to think he supposedly only started with $1 million of outside capital straight out of college in contrast, a new fund launching today would require at least US$200mm to be considered...

Corbyn as PM - price target for Sterling?

Corbyn as PM - price target for Sterling?

lol, if GBP depreciates a lot in that instance perhaps there'll be even more interest from property buyers from overseas. in the US there's a saying how real estate prices in New York and Boston are pretty much insulated for the most part against downturns (maybe a 5-10% drawdown, but still) i...

Corbyn as PM - price target for Sterling?

$25 million is the new number nowadays?

good stuff, i looked up search funds and it seems like their model is similar to doing a leveraged buyout the capital requirements are pretty high though, to put into an illiquid investment

$25 million is the new number nowadays?

so on bloomberg's front page today there's an article re-run from earlier that gives $25 million as the new number for being entry lvl/"economy-class rich" that's higher than expected, lol, even if you factor in any number of bitcoin traders who bought early and sold near the top the article...

Former Chief FX Trader at Citibank - Ask me a question

cool thread, always been curious: - what range of annualized % returns would you say bank fx traders in the 50th/90th percentiles produce? - there have occasionally been reports that some bank traders have somewhat lower returns after moving to the buyside, that internal info on flow helps them...

If markets are a Zero-Sum game, is the PPT making $ or subsidizing everyone on net basis?

well just because you don't like investopedia doesn't mean they are wrong in this instance for the futures markets, the game is zero-sum when excluding transaction costs, because for every long there is a short. if including transaction costs, and taking the exchange fees, etc to be skimmed off...

If markets are a Zero-Sum game, is the PPT making $ or subsidizing everyone on net basis?

well there are 2 topics & let's not get them mixed up: 1) Derivatives markets (trade on nearly 24/5 basis) -- futures & options, etc, where the markets are a zero-sum game in the absolute sense, where every contract has someone long or short 2) Cash markets (trade 9:30am to 4pm ET for NYSE) --...

If markets are a Zero-Sum game, is the PPT making $ or subsidizing everyone on net basis?

investopedia gives fairly accurate info and i don't have anything against it there are tons of sources available & just to take vanguard, which has like $5 trillion under management, as an example, they also say the same thing in their literature...

If markets are a Zero-Sum game, is the PPT making $ or subsidizing everyone on net basis?

ok, i checked and investopedia specifically lists futures and options as an example of a zero-sum game https://www.investopedia.com/terms/z/zero-sumgame.asp "In the financial markets, options and futures are examples of zero-sum games, excluding transaction costs. For every person who gains on...
