OK, well hopefully the new T9500 2.6 CTD will be a mighty improvemnet over my old Intel Pentium 2.0GHZ . Or should I go for the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo X9000 (2.80GHz) 6M L2 Cache, 800MHz Dual Core instead of the T9500 2.6GHZ CTD?

Performs slowly mainly during backtesting and occassionally when I'm crazy enough to have 10 firefox/IE windows each with 8 or so tabs

So it seems the summary here is that mnx believes the new 2.6Ghz CTD processor will improove my performance while gnome feels that the issue is primarily software and neither more RAM nor a faster processor will improve my performance. so what to do???!!

My current laptop is a 2.0GHZ but its not a Core2Duo - its a three year old laptop - so its the old Intel Pentium

Thanks, OK, will the new processor Core 2 Duo T9500 - 2.6GHZ increase my performance. Also TradersStudio has used as much as 8000MB of RAM on ccasion. What kind of tests can you run...how do we do this?

So gnome what could be slowing down my system. When I use my backtesting platform my CPU usage hits 99%. I have a 2GHZ processor. What can I do to speed it up??

I tried buying a laptop from Dell this past weekend but they said the Vista OS is the only option; despite the Microsoft June 30 cutoff date, it seems Dell i susing an earlier cutoff date. Any ideas??

Goodness! I don't see how this can be positive for OEC customers....short-term positive for OEC owners but not for OEC clients. What a shame! If OEC were acquired by a major house like NEWEDGE or even MF Global, I could see the positive in this. but not by a house like optionsXpress.
