And the hits just keep on comin'. 6 fills, 3 long losers, 2 small short winners and a scratch, -1116 on 4200 shares. Cut size and even had quite a few blocked on news, but the long fills just killed me. Got out of them as fast as I could but I never had a chance. They weren't up opens...

    The Opening Orders Thread

Man, I had a tough week in the OPGs. It was a lot worse than it should have been, as I let market conditions take me out of my standard fundamental strategy. Even so, poor performing fills here and there just eliminated the few I got that were nicely profitable, so I'd have been a loser either...

Wow, that was clutch chiguy. I am very happy for you. What an emotional swing. Today could have been decent if I had the sense to cancel Tyco, which I had an inkling to do as I waited for it to open. He took me down $3180 before working back, but still cost me $1050. All in all, 3 longs, 2...

    Toggling Off DDE Links

Just found this in Excel help after searching on "turn off calculations". It is exactly what I was after: --Links to other programs-- These options are for links to other programs that use OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) or DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange). Links to other programs can be...

    Toggling Off DDE Links

Thanks for the replies. I'm a bit surprised that Excel doesn't have this as a standard function.

2 long, 1 loser, 1 win on a test position, -811 on 2100 shares. I'd say Tyco raped me, but I basically did it to myself. Way too patient when it wasn't budging on the market run up. That and the fact that I was filled long on a gap up should have been enough of a clue to have a quick trigger.

    Toggling Off DDE Links

Does anyone know of a way to toggle DDE links "off" for an Excel worksheet, other than closing it and electing the "don't update" option when you reopen the sheet? I'm trying to stop the links from updating in real time when I don't need it. Excel Help had nothing on it, and searches of...

Didn't participate today - at the doctor for a physical. Not sure which is worse, taking a reaming by a physician, or by the market. Although in the market you can recover from the reaming... Enjoy the weekend all.

    The Opening Orders Thread

The NYSE opening price is the only one we care about. The opening orders strategy pertains to NYSE listed stocks only. For a review of the methodology, do a search on "Don's Openings" and you'll find all the old threads discussing the basics.

Looks like you got your groove back, chiguy. Wish I would join you. 1 long loser, -145. Should have been a scratch but was way too patient with a dud.

1 long loser, 1 short win on a test position, -468, 2100 shares PG had me down over $1400 right out of the gate, didn't see any news on it. Luckily it recovered somewhat. Not sure how a recording of the screen while trading the open would give you much info beyond what you have read...

2 long, a win and a loss, scratch. Put JPM in the penalty box for today. Enjoy the weekend, all. And enjoy the fact that it will be the last weekend you will have to do without Steelers football. They open up the preseason in the Hall of Fame Game a week from Sunday.

Pounded by Chase yet again. Killing what would otherwise have been a decent week. 3 fills but two were small test positions, 2 wins and one full size loser, -534, 3100 shares Chase rebounded nicely, but had already hit my "uncle" point.
