If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

No that was HH in the NQ, not a LH, at the time referenced. That is why you do not take that trade unless you see the failure to make a HH by the ES and YM.

If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

Well somewhere in that area you might have noted that the ES and YM were not confirming that higher high and thus a VWAP test was in play. But in my view the follow through below the VWAP was due to a Liquidity event that was not conveyed by Price until after the fact.

If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

That must be the case. Anyway nice thread and thanks for starting it. I'll shut up now.

If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

So now you have a bunch of trapped traders that never thought anything below 1658 (SPX 1660) was in play and they are praying that someone will let them out before ES 1648 (SPX 1650) because if that fails they will be in world of hurt.

If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

And here's the Cause for this test of ES 1658, from RanSquawk: "Very sketchy chatter from Twitter that Russia has said that Syria is headed for a Western military strike following Kerry's statement - Unconfirmed Geopolitical Source: Twitter / 911buff Mon, 14:14 26-08-2013"

If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

So now the 1658 Pivot is in play...and after that the 1650 Pivot.

If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

Your the OP so if you feel that strongly about charts with parameter based indicators then I will refrain in the future. I was referencing the Daily chart and above so again if you prefer to focus on the Hourly or something similar then I'll refrain on that too in the future. But keep in...

If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

You added a Line that was invalidated by a higher high. That is why I don't have it on the chart anymore, though I do show the corresponding Pivot (horizontal line) for reference. A Bar is an Indicator. A Line is an Indicator. Fibs (50% or whatever) are Indicators. Moving Averages are...

If You Can Draw A Straight Line . . .

Greetings. I've been browsing through this thread and I thought I would chime in as the tone seems pretty sane. On the ES I think the broader context argues for an open mind on direction here. If SPX 1675 is not breached soon then SPX 1625 becomes very logical. The SPX is really lagging the...

Who here trades index futures for a living?

Thanks very much. I asked about Wins and Losses in terms of ticks to get a feel for style. Are you in and out several times a day or just taking one or two setups per day in each instrument as warranted?

Advantages and Disadvantages of TF Rusell 2000

The TF offers more ticks in the first and last hour but this advantage often dissipates throughout the middle of the session. Also it often runs ahead of the other contracts in either direction early in the session. Throughout the day it is more sensitive to extreme Tick readings caused by...

Who here trades index futures for a living?

Time of day constraints? Average Ticks per Winner and Avg Ticks per Loser? Technical, Tape Reading, or Statistical Edge?

Anybody trade the Russell 2000 (TF)

The TF often moves point for point with the ES in the first hour and the last hour. Also when it is really moving it can be more resilient than the ES during these intervals because it trades on a different exchange so there is less arb noise. However, between 1000 CT and 1400 CT it can move...

Initial Claims Soar, Housing Starts Plunge, CPI Below Expectations

They must pay these guys on the side to say crap like this right at the bond close. Fed's Williams says Fed may reduce QE in the summer and halt by year end Fed Says: - Slowing QE wouldn’t mean tightening in policy Source: Newswires Thu, 14:06 16-05-2013

The Japanese are advertising a huge JGB purchase for Friday (overnight for US). Everything that happens today is just positioning. What happens tomorrow after the event will be much more informative. I took a free add on my GBP position at 1.525 Held Bid (edit) before the US open in...

    Massive displayed size in ES!!!

I agree that the informative value is minimal and generally I have not found anything informative in the DOM for ES and this is logical given the various ways the instrument is used. Occasionally I will see some size in the TF DOM that is informative in the moment. In my view the size was...

    GoCs 'scalping' journal

I found it in the US Opening News for this morning. I took a look at the European Opening News and there is no reference. So my guess is the timing was between 0100 and 0700 CT.
