    Where I'm at

I don't buy and close on the same day. But my strategy would not require me to watch the charts during the day. I would analyze the closing price and give me a buy or sell signal based on that.

    Where I'm at

To clarify my purpose for being on this forum. I am right now trying to find the right combinations of technical indicators that I can back test. I am open to all suggestions. I have made a TradeStation account (thanks @Steve Alexander ) and I will most likely begin by swing trading index...

Ok great. Can we get back on topic? Or I'll just make a new thread to clarify the topic.

Ok. So it's 7.7%. How many people on here beat that with their trading strategies? And what are the strategies?

The S&P has grown 602.9% since October 1993. Divide that by 26 years. That's 23.1% per year.

Right now, I'm looking for a combination of at least 3 indicators that I can back test.

I can make better than 20% doing other things besides trading. The average of the S&P since 1983 is over 20%. So what kind of accomplishment is that?

    Best strategies to start trading

Ok. Do you personally know any strategies? Cause it sure as hell isn't me free hand drawing "trend lines" over tick charts. I went back and read a lot of @Steve Alexander 's old posts. He said he's never met a profitable day trader, only swing traders. That sounds reasonable to me. In Thorp's...

After looking in more detail, you bet on leveraged index funds and sector funds. You always bet for a bull market. You don't have a set hold period when you buy, but it's usually a few days, sometimes a few weeks. How do you know when to take a loss?

    Best strategies to start trading

Gamblers have been mentioned a few times since I've joined. Instead of looking through the POV of the gambler, look through the POV of the casino. They have a system that is mathematically in their favor. They will always win long-term. You can write a mathematical proof of how the casino wins...

Wow. What a great post. I feel like I could ask you a million questions. Is it fundamental analysis or technical analysis that you use more? Do you technical indicators, or combinations of them?

Thanks for the compliment. But I actually have lost money because I bet in leveraged funds on Schwab earlier this year.

    Trades for today

I deleted all my trading apps yesterday. Then, I released just the Fx one as a second thought... All I'm willing to do is this: use a system of 3 indicators to tell me when to place a trade. Set the stop-loss and take-profit at time I enter the trade. I will always have many things that will...

Trend lines and Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle

Here's another observation: At too large of a timeline, trend lines become meaningless. Can you honestly draw any conclusions from this AUD/USD graph of last 20 years?
