Liquidity Vanishes Across Russia Assets as Sanctions Bite

We are screwed. But Russia is royally F’d. They will go into a deep recession at best. Ruble is shit, stock market is closed, key interest rate at 20%. They will see shortages in the supply chain that makes ours look like Mickey Mouse. JMHO @smalfil, I respectfully disagree. I think if I am...

Perplexing Situation.... Bullish Response To Russia-Ukraine

    Help me read a chart

Thanks. I always thought of a base as a more or less imperfect flat line, preferably a tight one, that lasts at least a few weeks. Although I realized after I posted that this is a weekly time frame so it was only two candles (meaning lines it’s not a candle chart) but that represented two weeks.

    Help me read a chart

I’m new, still learning, know the basics, but still a dummy. So ‘splain this to me.. the below chart is from the O’Neill book, HTMMIS. ITS SHOWN AS AN EXAMPLE OF A DOUBLE BASE. THE TWO BASES ARE MARKED. They don’t look like bases to me. What am I missing.

Seems like it's about time for FOMC to say something

Better off without it. It takes the focus away from why we come here. Blow off steam at the gym LOL

The Nasdaq bottom ( short term )

Up volume was 79% of total Volume. Not strong enough. Adv/dec 4:1. Meh

Seems like it's about time for FOMC to say something

LOLOL. We argue in a section called “the Water Cooler” in a sub forum called “Politics and Covid” (they’ve become the same thing). It gets pretty horrible lol. And sometimes we argue about active vs passive in the Investments section.

Seems like it's about time for FOMC to say something

I left it only because I needed a break. I was one of three moderators, but we don’t moderate much, made a conscious decision. It’s a Financial Advisors forum, I’m a retired advisor, this one suits my needs better. Plus this one has a block feature, my other one doesn’t LOL

The Nasdaq bottom ( short term )

It ain’t over. I’m not convinced, I want to see sustained follow through. Too much damage has been done for this to end in two days.

To what do you attribute today being the biggest daily loss?. Market was rising thru the day. Did you do a post Mortem and figure out where you went wrong?

    Stop orders

Thanks for the comments, it validates my thinking. Got stopped out today on SOYB, but had the stop at 5% below entry point, purposely had a super tight stop. had another, CORN, that didn’t hit my original stop but I had moved my stopped as the stock rose, ultimately sold for a small loss before...

Who called the buy right when Russia struck?

I think a post calling for a rally would have gotten a lot more credit if it ended with… “….here’s the rationale for my call. “ I bought SPY yesterday morning, made 6 points , and got out. With on,y 15% (at the time) of $SPX stocks trading above their 50 day MA, it seemed like a no brainer. It...

    Stop orders

You buy a stock, etf, whatever, and put in a stop order, say, 7% below your entry point. Few days later, Stock closes 5% below, and the next morning it looks like it’s gonna gap down at the open, and you’ll be stopped out with a 10% loss. Do you keep the stop on? I know, if you read HTMMIS...

We've seen the bottom, up from here

i think nobody knows where it will be or where the market will be at end of year. Too much uncertainty. But right now, the chart is ugly. I’ll get back into it at some point. I just think the stock will see some valuation compression before it starts up again.
