Stocks with inverse correlation to SP500

I realize this is a pretty basic question and requires some homework - but I'm just looking for a bit of general guidance here. Are there certain sectors or industries that typically have an inverse relationship to the SP500? Are there certain stocks you follow that don't correlate with the...

Success in trading stocks a prerequisite for success in trading options?

Shouldn't the bigger question be whether success in trading stocks or options is a myth or a fact (half kidding)? I have little to no experience in either but it strikes me (no pun intended) that short of true arbitrage - the instrument doesn't make much difference. Either you can trade or...

As spindr0 points out, you'll need to go through various iterations to back out the IV values given your BSM equation. It cannot be solved analytically. This can be done manually using the calculator - take the call price and keep changing the IV until your calculator price matches that of...

How could TARP & Bernanke NOT be mentioned in 5gb's of "major" bank data?

"The 21,000 transactions in 11 initiatives included the money-market plan Cunningham helped devise, known as the AMLF, short for its 10-word formal name, the Asset-Backed Commercial Paper Money Market Mutual Fund Liquidity Facility." ...haha, what a ridiculous name.

2 weeks passed, IB never cares to address "stop loss not stopped" problem

Thanks, and agreed the conspiracy theorists will have their reasons - my guess would be it's a function of their risk management system, but I have nothing to base that on.

Well, you've seemingly accomplished the impossible - congratulations. ...and if you're indeed correct about the recluse phase, you should probably lay low for a while, can't imagine you're too far from the top of his list.

I don't think this is appropriate. For one, nitro is trying something and he deserves credit for that, and for putting himself out there. Second, trying to build a perpetual motion machine, even with the prior knowledge that it's impossible, may not be a wasted effort as much can be learned...

As much as I think ZH misrepresents and often provides bogus analysis, they do link to some interesting research every once in a while. These are a few pieces which reference some GS Research (ironically one came out just this morning on the subject). The article I was originally thinking...
