    Directional trades prior to earnings

smh... now calendars are momentum trades? you really give away a ton of golden nuggets on ET for free. You should be charging for that kind of insight.... Your back month option has more vega than your front so you can't really say vol crush in the front month option. It's all relative. Anyways...

    Directional trades prior to earnings

Hey man, @OptionsOptionsOptions is lurking around this forum to spread his/her divine knowledge. I will let you know that, companies such as JPM, GS etc.. are going out of there way to learn about internet of things where they can track how many people have walked into LULU stores, how much...

Standing Desks Vs. Treadmill Desks Vs. Dying at My Seat

I bought a flat treadmill(without the handles) from amazon and built a stand. I recommend this because you can customize it to your liking (and it's a fun little project). I just fit a laptop on it. My sitting desk has 2 monitors

Standing Desks Vs. Treadmill Desks Vs. Dying at My Seat

I also want to mention the reason I switched is because many study shows, sitting for an excessive period of time drastically decreases your life span as well as your "happiness". I wish I could have it at work but I am not allowed. Definetly try it you will be very happy once you get into the...

Standing Desks Vs. Treadmill Desks Vs. Dying at My Seat

I have treadmill desk at home. Its hard to break into because of the slight bounce in your step (hard to type), but once your used to it its pretty amazing. Its also hard to walk for 10-14 hours(when you really get into it on the weekend) so make sure you have a normal sitting desk as well. I am...

    My Calendar Journal

I see what you are saying. Yes on friday I was hoping for JPM to move up, so you are right I was directional. If I had flattened my deltas(which I would not have done since it was the last day for the calendar) then I would have been unbiased to direction. The earnings event is always priced...

    My Calendar Journal

No. In this case as long as my back month vega stays higher than my delta how can this be a directional bet? Deltas do not accumulate quickly on a calendar. Yes if JPM fell on Friday this would have been a very small loser, but thats part of the game.... Im using a tight time spread because for...

    My Calendar Journal

For these types of calendars because I expect to the back month vol to increase by a significant amount, I tend to let my deltas run. Depending on the underlying's volatility will determine what my hedging frequency is.

    FANG stocks

Not a newb, but with a newbie question

Nothing wrong with being a newb and asking a newb question. If your credit spread is otm it will expire worthless with no further transaction costs. Surely someone with 20 years experience would know this.....

Placed a trade on Visa today. Bot the July 20 sold July 6. Earnings is being priced in for the July 27 cycle, yet every estimator I have seen is for July 18 or 19. Good risk reward here. V calendar JULY 6/20 for 1.16 We should see the back month Jump 5% on confirmation.

    The Calendar Play Book

"Gypsy for one day" is pretty groovy. This formula looks a bit hairy now that I think about it. Before I try and write up a more precise formula, why is it that we have "a trade off between (iv vs rv) and (iv vs fv)"? can we not have both fv and iv gains? Ie we put on a calendar and the stock...
