Real Estate will not meet the same fate as Tech.

Going forward, you are going to need to look at realestate in terms of 10 years, and more like 15 to 20. Prices have gotten out of hand. Imagine a 25% pullback on anything right now, coupled with negative cashflow for many years. I don't think that many will be able to hang on for that long...

Real Estate will not meet the same fate as Tech.

There isn't anyone on this board that is in this for the long term....therefore....you will eventually lose. Keep holding onto those lots, paying the taxes, etc. A lot is truely like a now defunct internet company. Lots of hype, no real revenue. The only players that will make money in real...

I never stopped, trading that is:). You asked the question and I took the time to answer it for you. Like I said, I am not trying to be condescending but I made a pretty realistic case on How a firm can lose money in this business. It's nothing personal, just a simplified analysis.

Perhaps both of you should learn a little bit more about what it truly costs to run and operate a business. I don't want to sound condescending here, but, there are fixed costs and variable costs associated with all businesses. Fixed costs could be the salaries and benefit packages of those...

I don't think anyone is guaranteed they will get their money back if ANY prop firm closes. Think to yourself, "what causes a business to close?" An accumulation of liabilities and not enough revenue to cover those liabilities. That being said, I sincerely hope that no trader loses his/her...

    Trading Markets- $7500

I say go for it. Develop a system and market it. Innovation and free enterprise are what makes america great. The thing I question is that the sytem was tested on the last 5 years, but the VOL in the market 5 years ago was very different than the VOl today. My question, How does that...

If you only have a few thousand bucks up, no big deal. But what if you have some significant money backing your trading and they go broke. You are probably not going to get all of your money back.(your money isn't insured) That could be a very big deal.

    Are all trading courses scams?

I view trading courses much like the courses you took back in college. They give you some ideas, they give you a frame work to work with, but they are not likely to be the holy grail. I have found that it only takes one key distinction to take your trading to a whole new level. My suggestion...

    SUV Sales

For those of us with families, non of these are viable options. Neither my wife or I would ever buy a mini van. I guess that means I am stuck with my 18 - 20 MPG Ford. I'm ok with that. My commute to work is about 5 miles, and from my house 15 minutes gets you anywhere you want to go in...

Most likely, he has a spreadsheet set up to monitor his fills and hypothetical results. It's a great way to gauge how "well" you are trading, I have several I use to help me do a daily analysis of my trading.

Trade through rule for nasdaq, enjoy!

They raise them in the begining of the year to fund their budget, then they often lower them once they are fully funded. At least that's been the trend the past few years.

Trade through rule for nasdaq, enjoy!

I agree with you on these SEC fees. Ridiculous! I realize that this changes the game for many traders out there, but, instead of complaining about it, ask yourself, Where is the opportunity in this? With each new change, there are opportunities and those who can adapt quickly can certainly...

Trade through rule for nasdaq, enjoy!

I support the rule change, this levels the playing field IMO. The fact is market makers have access to order flow, and nothing is worse that seeing a large print go off, you should have gotten filled, but they bypass your order and the price drops immediately.

Don's openings and more for 2005

Wow.........must be slow for traders lately. Speaking of trading, I thought I'd post my results. After a tough friday, Monday and Tuesday have produced some solid trading profits, around $7000 over the past few days. This is about as good as it gets IMO. While I am encouraged by the action...

Don's openings and more for 2005

As a successful opening order trader, I will jump in with a few of my thoughts on the subject. As far as the math is concerned, GR8Trader is absolutely correct. That being said, Openings can be a very good strategy, most days, and can also be very bad on some days. Last friday I was down 9500...
