Trading is gambling- Only if you make it gambling

I had a friend who was a sports odds maker in Vegas...I don't think he gambled. He was just very good with the odds. This was WAY back on the 1990s...

Yeah, I own some Amazon stock. But this video rings true. Deceptive reviews and poor quality.

Cabin's journal of buys, sells, and covered calls...

I optioned Teledyne (TDY) today...Covered call. I did one sell to open June 24 at $500. I got $5.40 ($540.) for the option. Went to CBOE and couldn't get a fill. Then went to Fidelity routing...PFOF. I got a fill with much better price improvement. It is what it is for a retail investor...

    earning play 12/20/23...

Forget the OP...Where is MU headed?? I bought it awhile back...I've held it through rough times (Roth IRA). I'm sitting on 100 shares, with a covered call for Jan 24 at $85. Will I get called away?? A good 15% profit, but that is the way/puzzle/dilemma/predicament of covered calls...

My wife and I have 6 different accounts...3 at Schwab (two Roth IRAs and a trust account), 2 at Fidelity (Roth IRA and trust account), and a Roth IRA my wife has at T Rowe Price. This does not include the stocks we are looking to buy and option. Yahoo does a few things well...The rest is...

More clean up type stuff. I own 300 shares of Invesco Water Resources (PHO). I optioned 100 (covered call) for $58. It got called away...They grabbed the dividend. This (I believe) was the second option on this stock. The first one had all 300 shares...They expired worthless. I still am just...

Yahoo Finance's new website is now unusable...

I go for general information with Yahoo Finance. Like I said, I haven't trusted them for 20 years. Also I know that if it's a lightly traded option (example ETF), the last strike price could be days, even weeks old. I just like to eyeball for things like volume, last earnings, company...

Yahoo Finance's new website is now unusable...

You know not what you speak. I do covered calls...That itself tells you no steamroller. They are usually on established, boring, industry leading stocks (think Amazon, ADM, Apple). Last time I saw, 7% of the option market was made up of covered calls. I'm cheap, but not a miser. Have the...

Yahoo Finance's new website is now unusable...

Yes, that page locks up on me... Where I sit they created a whole new front page. Next (example), I will click on the Coke (KO) summary page, they have moved everything to different places. I can get use to that...I have to every few years, when they change their website. Here is the...

Yahoo Finance's new website is now unusable...

Matt, I do about 5-10 stock/option trades a month (covered calls/put buy backs). Manual trading...I'm 68+. So much is overkill. I just like to "spy" a stock or option at Yahoo, then go to the broker (Schwab or Fidelity) and make the trade. Yeah, I'm cheap...Are there any good (free) feeds out...

Yahoo Finance's new website is now unusable...

They have tried and tried for years to get it right... They have put in millions and millions with no success... I am unable to pull up options on their new (free) website... I would use the site to get an idea where bid/asks were at, for a stock/option. Their site is not working...locked...

Detecting Non-Standard (NS) options in YahooFinance data

Yahoo just rolled out another view of their webpage...They do this every few years. They always think it's better, but it's just the same...Very few new bells and whistles. One thing I remember with their terms of service (premium service), is they are not responsible for any information...

What aren't all options cash settled?

You wrote this in April of this years...One of your first posts. I think someone lied on their option application...I like the "or whatever"!! I have level 3 or whatever because I have a margin account and can short stock and write contracts. My broker doesn't allow naked shorts for the...

Different margin requirements on two separate accounts

I'm on the other side of your trade. Fidelity offered to lend out two of my stocks...I think they would split any profits with me (I had no options on them). I chose not to lend... It's funny...My QQQ would earn diddly/squat (one half of one percent). But my Terumo TRUMY (Japanese company, I...

Detecting Non-Standard (NS) options in YahooFinance data

Is this premium Yahoo? I have learned about 20-25 years ago, not to trust their tape. They say they can be up to 15 minutes behind the market. They also say none of their data may be accurate!! They have covered their backside...Have you?? You get what you pay for...
