What is the fastest intel processor?

Not true at all. Intel would never intentionally design their chips to be overclocked. Silicon based chips are always designed on the wafer to reach their peak performance potential (think the extreme chips). But for the most part, the chips are unable to sustain stable performance at those...

Anyone living & trading from an RV?

I remember hearing about a google maps mashup that mapped all the cell towers in a given locale. This might also be useful for you.

What is the fastest intel processor?

I would never overclock my trading workstation. At least not without a serious water cooling solution. And even still, I wouldn't OC it over 10%. Ive seen ppl in other forums getting ridiculous performance gains from those Q6600's, quite impressive. It never used to be like this a few years ago.

    High Speed Internet

The two choices I have are ATT DSL and Comcast Cable, neither of which offer speeds higher than 8mbit down. I am willing to pay more than what they charge me, but there is no alternative like what you guys have. No FIOS, or anything else.

Anyone living & trading from an RV?

Find out what the TOS really include. They might all say "unlimited data". But for some, what that really means is "unlimited data... for what we consider reasonable". For some, that means, only browsing webpages and sending email. No downloading, and further more, NO STREAMING. Read...

    Suggestions to Improve Automated Trading...

Are your entries and exits firing on a tick by tick basis or bar by bar? What other (external) variables are different from backtesting and real-time? Was the backtest even profitable? Try some more time periods and see if they are profitable without optimization.

    Quitting Trading

First, I want to say that your discipline to stay with trading for 8 years is quite respectable. I can only hope to last that long. I would keep at it. I don't know how you are going to get back in the workforce after such a long break. I am watching my dad (late 50's) trying to get back in...

What is the fastest intel processor?

number of cores don't technically represent if threads are ran "faster", just more bandwidth, less thread queuing. Thats how the 32/64 bit-width should be seen, in terms of bandwidth, not speed. Intel looks to be moving towards more energy friendly design, i.e., smaller fab process. That is...

Algo traders; How do you describe what you do to friends?

Hi all, I primarily work on a few of my own ATS'. But I have always found a little frustrating describing exactly what I do to others when the topic arises. I have to wonder if there is a better way to describe what we do than the way I am describing it. It usually plays out something like...

    High Speed Internet

Comcast (and maybe others) have figured out how to beat these speed testing websites with their "speed boost" technology. In case you don't know what this is; For the first n seconds, comcast will give you a burst of bandwidth, afterwards, your bandwidth drops down to the regular speed. It...

Dell 22inch LCD vs. 24inch UltraSharp

The 24" has higher resolution, but the price is almost 2x more than the 22". At least that was the case when I got my Dell 24" 2407 last year.

    Remote Trading set-up

More so than getting the data directly to your home box from your data feed provider, defeating the whole purpose of getting a box closer to the "action". In theory, you are at least doubling the routing steps.

NinJa Trader and real time data

I am dragging orders. My account is funded well, so buying power shouldn't be an issue. I suppose my next thing to try would be setting up a macro to move a limit order +/- a tick. For now, I am just waiting until the inside ask fills with at least 200-300 orders on ES before I move my order...

Anybody Using XP Pro 64-bit ?

Today x86-64 app support is a NIGHTMARE. I suspect this will begin to change in the near future due to the fact that x86-32 OS's runs in to memory limitations somewhere around 3GB. Given that the "recommended" amount of RAM to run Vista Hog is 4GB of RAM, we should start to see OEM's using the...
