The screen shot of ym shows decreasing red volume from the peak, as required for the anticipated FTT on ES. We also get r2r as ym performs its rtl bo, confirming the FTT. We are also in the early part of the afternoon, expecting volume levels to rise after the lunchtime period. There are...

My apologies for the confusion. The context is the ftt that we were discussing ealier: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83604&perpage=6&pagenumber=826 Specifically, the ftt at 14:30 yesterday.

Taking this discussion a little further, the situation is that I am monitoring for decreasing red volume to validate my FTT conclusion at the end of a long channel. I understand that the appearance of increasing black volume would invalidate the FTT and justify a reversal to long. However: 1...

Spyder, I have a question regarding the ftt at 14:30. The preceeding bar had just given us volatility expansion and a heads up for an ftt. The 14:30 bar opens at 08.50, climbs one tick and then starts to head south. Between 14:30:14 and 14:33:33 we see numerous colour flips black/red as price...

This discussion of the basic principles caused me to review the definition of an FTT. It is described early in this journal as "the turning point of a trend, and more importantly, a change in trend direction". However, the trend change is only manifested at the moment of the R2R or B2B. If we...

I would suggest that the key is timely, consistent, and successful recognition of the two states.

I found myself in a very similar situation yesterday afternoon. I attach a clip showing my numerous cases of ftt misidentification (subsequently labelled wtf). Making "mistakes" is part of the learning process, but this does rely upon being able to identify the reason for the "mistake" in...

Eureka. The reason that I was not getting a vol display was because I was using esignal as the data feed. They do not appear to supply raw vol data. Switching over to IB cured the problem.

We need to get away from the mindset of "entry and exit strategies". This method focusses on continuation or change. At the tree level, we trade from FTT to FTT. Of course, not all FTT's will be spotted and mistakes will be made. My present aim is to "sideline" only if I lose track of what the...

I am presently monitoring for points of change at the tree level. I am using a simulator but only for the purpose of recording time and price at decision points, for detailed assessment after market hours. David

Thanks Pepe. We see on the attached ym clip that it widened the short channel on decr vol at 13:18 and then formed a dip with incr vol at 13:20, 13:22. If one had taken the reversal, I guess the dip would have been enough to justify reversing back to short. However, this is clearly way down the...

This is the point where it begins to pull away from 1449.00 and forms the ftt. Unfortunately I didn't widen the tic display until later in the day. I have recorded the entire day so we can take a snapshot from anywhere. I might even be able to make a video clip of the turn. David
