Since NYSE and AMEX stocks can be traded on nasdaq. does anyone have experience to send OPG orders for nyse stocks to nasdaq for open cross?

This is what I have thought that two accounts are only eye candy, no real sustance. what do you mean scalprange 5? does it mean in the case of short, whenever the price increases 5 points, you average down with another contract short?

the viability of the strategy depends on the entry and exit. remeber OP stated somewhere the entry is random, and I doubt it will be workable in that way. I like to see I am wrong, but so far I am still convinced it is no different from normal averaging down. the 2 contracts limit the loss but...

Maybe only people like Don who has been with this strategy for many years know if OPG nowadays is much less profitable than 5 years ago,or the less profitabiliy results from more people playing it or specialists move out of business.

Is it possible that openning price at the other exchanges have better price than on the primary exchange? if so, why not try post orders on those non-primary exchanges?

still doubt that this strategy has no risk as OP stated. it is basically an averaging-down strategy. the two accounts only make it more deceiving. if there are no constraints, it is idential to normal averaging down. with constraints, it is similar to the cut loss of averaging down. any one can...

Don, when you said "NYSE stocks may open at 9:30 or 9:35 etc., based on order flow etc.", does it mean there are two exchanges that have open auction? in that case, how can they assure the open price is the same? if not, then the data we often use in technical analysis including...

I believe anything in two accounts is equivalent to trading in one account. Positions in two accounts only make your eye feel comfortable, no other special importance. For example, in your own code, you can book longs and shorts even though the long cancels out the short.

if you long and short at the same time, clearly the two accounts will cancel each other, and you will lose from commissions; in other words, if the system is profitable, it comes from the time delay you enter the long or shor positions. thus, I can not see any value of the system because if the...

i explored this idea for a while. it seems the strategy is similar to two accounts that adopt average down strategy separately. in this chart OP provided (http://www.datatime.eu/public/TradingDiary/YM-2009-09-04-1Hour.gif), there is a moment that OP averaged down on short side while the...

How do hedge funds protect their edge?

I do not know if it is right to pose here. I am quite confused how famous hedge funds, like DE SHAW and Jame Simons protect their trading secrecy? If they trade via other brokers, the brokers can peer into their trading strategies; if they do not trade via brokers, it means they have to build...

I guess this site also makes contribution to its demise. But amazingly, the strategy only wanes out after so many years don has taught this strategy in his class and here. People may still be able to make a few dimes from OPG. but given the efforts and missing opportunities in the first half...

Don & total_keops, I can also see DD traded at 32.49 at 9:30:22. How could yahoo and esignal both say DD opened at 32.10? from esignal time and sale window, at 9:30:22, 1600 shares traded at NMS, 100 shares traded at BATS, another 400 shares traded at PSE. at that moment, all the above...

Don, I think I may get something wrong here. I wonder if you were talking about OPG or closimg imbalance. from yahoo and esignal, DD opened at 32.10, and traded up in the first minute. from the picutre you attached, it shows LOC order instead of OPG order. so I guess you were talking about...

Don, you said you traded DD for 33 cents profit today. As I know, you only trade with the specialist, that is, you only short when stock opens higher and buy when the stock opens lower, because that is the case when the specialist has to step in. But DD today opened higher than its...
