Customers of Interactive Brokers file class action complaint over management of portfolio margin acc

I am a happy customer of IBKR and I do use margin. Among the lawsuits I have read against IBKR, ALL of them involve options. So, if you want to be on the safe side when using margin, avoid using leverage on options. Options are already leveraged instruments. Why add leverage on top of leverage?

TD Ameritrade will offer BTC Futures

This is why I sleep well with Interactive Brokers. They are risk-conscious and will be the last man standing in a financial crisis. If IB relaxes their risk standards, then it's time to switch to another broker.

What are some active internet forums for Canada stocks?

Thanks. Canadian money forum looks like a good active forum. BNN, although not a forum, looks like a good news website which is free of charge.

Why in the Hell is Michael Covel infatuated with Curtis Faith?

It's quite evil to hound a mentally unwell person who was kind enough to reveal the turtle rules free of charge. Covel charged thousands for teaching the trading rules but does not even trade himself.

Tudor reorganizing, PTJ taking a hands-on role

True. Big AUM kills performance. But big AUM guarantees fat salaries to fund managers given the management fees. I hope to see more funds move towards performance-based fees away from management fees so that they get rewarded as fund managers and not as asset gatherers.

Why in the Hell is Michael Covel infatuated with Curtis Faith?

I said I respect him for his honesty to admit that he does not trade when questioned. That doesn't mean I trust him with my money in matters of trading given that he does not trade and charges an arm and a leg to teach trading. I will certainly not pay him money to learn trading from him since...

Hutchin Hill Capital Said To Be Closing Doors, Returning Capital To Investors

This is probably the most common but unspoken reason why hedge funds close shop.

Question: Number of Active Traders in the U.S.

My guess is that the number is dropping big-time thanks to passive ETFs outperforming even professional fund managers. Why spend time when passive means are more profitable?

Is investing in real estate less time-consuming than stocks?

Thanks for all the replies. Seems that my original premise that real estate investing taking up lesser time than stocks is wrong. Nevertheless, I do observe more property investors making money than stock investors. Most people who touched stocks that I have spoken to lost money. Not true for...

Tudor reorganizing, PTJ taking a hands-on role

This is a mystery to me. Goldman Sachs traders should be the elites. What are they not only under-performing but getting shipwrecked? A person of my calibre will never even get a chance to a job interview at Goldman Sachs. Yet, at least, I'm not shipwrecked. Why do elite traders (not referring...

Why in the Hell is Michael Covel infatuated with Curtis Faith?

Ahh ... Covel wins my respect for his honesty. At least he admits he doesn't trade. However, I am not sure if he discloses this fact to his students whom he charges thousands for teaching trend-trading. An honest person will do it. If he charges thousands for a 3-day course with full...

Is investing in real estate less time-consuming than stocks?

One can hire a real estate agent to help manage the tenants and look for tenants. Investment income will be lower but time and energy can be saved as a result.

Is investing in real estate less time-consuming than stocks?

I have done stocks but never property. However, it seems to me property investors don't seem to spend as much time on active investment compared to stock investors. Stock investors spend more time monitoring the market. So, is property investing more passive than stock investing? Passive means...

What % of Hedge Funds/Institutions actually make money?

Being winner-takes-all, then performance will suffer eventually. The bigger the AUM, the poorer the performance. It seems going back to cheaper, passive S&P500 ETF makes more sense.

What % of Hedge Funds/Institutions actually make money?

Does this percentage of beating S&P500 include the 2-and-20 fees or before? SPY ETF annual fees is only 0.09%. If the hedge funds are able to beat SPY despite their much higher cost, it will be interesting to know who they are. I would like to follow these skillful hedge fund managers.

What % of Hedge Funds/Institutions actually make money?

Good question. I would also like to know what is the percentage of hedge funds who beat the passive benchmark index? If they can't beat the index, it is a waste of money to hire these expensive managers when there are cheaper alternative passive index ETFs.

    Xela: More Likes than Posts!!

I don't believe elitetraders members are so naive as to give more likes to a member just because she has a beautiful woman profile picture. If members here are so naive, they would have lost their money to the scams and sharks in the financial services industry and financial markets. As we know...
