Xela: More Likes than Posts!!

I suspect alot of lonely/ugly guys are giving her praises/likes because she's a female.

Kind of like nerds in the chess team, salivating at the only female in the class. or science-fiction nerds, fantasizing about having sex with a female in a costume.

I strongly doubt Xela is getting likes because she's a female. I believe Xela has substance because we are anonymous to each other, known only to each other by the stuff we write. If Xela gets likes, it is probably she writes well and writes with good sense. Nobody gets paid here for giving likes.

I will keep a look-out for posts by Xela going forward. Thanks for bringing this to my notice.

If this was a female dominated forum and a guy came in with a handsome profile picture he would have gotten a lot more likes than Xela.

That's not true. There was a very well known lady poster who was highly respected for what she posted, and had 300 followers. But less than 10% of her posts received Likes.
Now someday, if you can contribute to ET at Xela's level, you too might make the rankings. Until then you lose to the competition.
And don't forget that 99% of her posts are aimed at helping people based on her extensive and, IMO, very worthwhile knowledge.

If I could play the devil's advocate here for a minute:

How many of you who find Xela's advice invaluable have been able to translate that valuable advice into big money in your pocket from your market operations?

Consider this friendly advice and not an attack on anyone. I just find from my own experience, trial and error, that it is very easy to think you're making progress and learning 'something', while in fact you're not really getting there at all.

It took me a long while to finally get on the right path and it was different than the one I was on initially and imagined to be correct.

Furthermore, as I discovered this path, I found myself not interested in sharing about this type of market knowledge for obvious reasons. But, when I was learning common and public market knowledge, i.e., book/forum knowledge, I had no problems sharing or even discussing it.

She(/he?) is one of the few posters on ET that never causes any bad feelings or aggression in me. Even if we disagree I have some understanding for what she writes. She writes with diplomacy. With most posters on ET I don’t have that same reaction.

Looks educated and has knowledge about a lot of things. Although I personally think she is not a top trader. But 99% of us are not, especially on ET.

No guarantee that she is trading or profitable trading. She seems to have lots of time to read an write, I cannot produce what she produces while I am fulltime trading. But maybe she trades LT and basically has to wait most of the time.

Respects other people’s opinion, so never aggressive or insulting reaction. So complete opposite of the usual behavior on ET. Behavior looks more female than male (alpha male, testosterone, huge ego…).

Being , or insinuating, that she is female might influence the number of like but that tells a lot about the people who give these likes. Lot of men don’t use their brain but their lower body parts to make decisions on that.

On internet you NEVER know who you are speaking about. You can assume what you wish but that will not change the reality. A reality that can be completely the opposite of your assumptions.

I rarely like postings because of the fact that I have a certain view and personal experience in trading. So my subconscious has only sympathy for what confirms my opinion, which leads to likes , or not likes. By I like comments from Xela as they are well funded and are challenging me to review or analyze my personal opinion about trading. She can be a source for rethinking certain things. An intellectual challenge sometimes too. But for some posters on ET an intellectual challenge is a problem as you need the basic knowledge to do something with it. You cannot use what you don’t have.

There are poster with much more likes on ET who, according to me, have even not 10 % of the value of what Xela produces. Number of likes are not 1:1 related with quality. Sometimes quality is much higher then likes indicate, sometimes much lower.

I prefer blond women, so her picture did not really help to push me to give a lot of likes.
I can also separate very well work and pleasure. Can be very useful in some situations.

I would imagine that very few have, as her knowledge is based on study, research and hard work. And how many are really willing to go that route? So, as you asked, big money might not have been the result.. But surely I would imagine that many new, and even old, traders have at least been pointed in the right direction and also diverted from making common errors.

There are many parameters that can influence the effectiveness of the advice:

• was it good advice?
• Do YOU understand it and have the intellect to do something with it?
• Does this advice fit in your trading system? Advice does not mean a full system, so the rest of the system should benefit from it too.
• A full trading system is for each trader different, so the impact of the advice can be very different too. The advice can be phenomenal for A and be disastrous for B at the same time.

There are a lot of people on ET who think to simplistic. Black or white. For them grey does not exist.

Good advice from Xela should make you a millionaire? LOL. Perfect example of simplistic "logic". Black or white. Millionaire or loser.

Xela could be a handsome gentleman just saying

OP doesn't know shit. Old timers can't compete in this ratio because they have had thousands of posts before the Like feature was implemented, only a few years ago. Hell, a newbie with 1 good post could have a 3 to 1 ratio.

I have threads were I described strategies 10+ years ago and they still working. Just sayin...

Yes, I know and considered that. But without going through every single current forum and thread searching for others, that I doubt exist, I think Xela deserves to be mentioned, especially since she's been posting for only 2 years!!
