Exactly what do you disagree on with regards to trading CPI and FOMC news releases?

Robbing f—- idiots of their money

Reminds me of the following quotes from Jesse Livermore which seems as applicable today as then: "I learned early that there is nothing new in Wall Street. There can't be because speculation is as old as the hills. Whatever happens in the stock market today has happened before and will happen...

I'm flattered that you ask, but I have no idea right now to be honest. Not at my trading desk and haven't done any analysis, so would only be guessing. I'm not sure about all hell breaking loose, but I do think investors/traders hoping for a strong year end rally may get disappointed.

Well, you can just scroll back your charts and check out the last few CPI releases. Even if you had a stop in place there would be no liquidity for you to exit. IMO, there are no "signals" or predictive price behavior during such price moves. Only blown accounts or people who got lucky and were...

Holding/initiating a trade into this release is gambling even if the outcome is favourable. :)

Churning action, but I'm sure we'll break higher eventually today. 4070/80.

What to infer from that information is the challenge, though. What's your read?

Looking for a higher low here in this area for a long play into the Close. Sh*t can still hit the fan, though. If the LOD doesn't hold.

    ES Journal - 2021/2022

That's quite the roller coaster today. Reversed off yesterday's Close/High almost to the tick. Coming up against last week's high at 4055, so the key is to look for continuation above here or a reversal back down to the LOD from here. Clearing 4055 I would be expecting 4080. If not, we might...

That's a big spike. Not the first one this quarter. I assume everyone knows to not hold a day trade into news releases by now. Right?

    NEW Traders With Edge

Seems to be the catch-22 for most aspiring traders who are short on funds. By the time you have a good/long enough track record you may not need/want funds anyhow.

The main reason why doing business with these get-funded programs is a bad idea...

Maybe. But the fact that the FX firms mentioned by @trade2020 allows you to withdraw your full profit and still have the "initial funding" provided should be the same for both type of firms.

Reversed off last week's mid-point here. Could be. Could be some selling (hedging?) prior as well. I'm thinking maybe we'll stay roughly in this range until FOMC, but that's only a guess at this point.

The main reason why doing business with these get-funded programs is a bad idea...

That's a huge difference, IMO. Actually, it would be interesting to know how many of the subscribers at @Topstep and similar firms know up front that the only funding they ever get (at best) is $5K. I'm not sure many knows that. Can still be a good deal if you know how to trade, but lack...

As foretold... :) With that out of the day - the rest of the day is more uncertain from my POV. The easy money / targets are gone for today. Better opportunities tomorrow.

The main reason why doing business with these get-funded programs is a bad idea...

Yes. Just nice to have clarified that $5000 is all a trader will ever get. Earlier, I actually thought you would back traders with an even larger stake if he proved himself after getting funded. Thanks for clarifying.

1, 5, 30, 60, daily, weekly, monthly and a volume chart. Plus some other "stuff". Probably rolling by today's close, i.e., for tomorrow's session. No idea about the news, but should ramp up volatility/direction I'm sure. I'm more of a bear than a bull these days and I think the Santa Rally...

I'll be happy to exit at 66. I think we'll inch higher than that, but the chances of a reversion are there and not a bet-the-farm day anyhow. EDIT: On a second note, I'll just going to trail this aggressively. Just in case. I will take 3 points off, though.

The day is young, so will scratch it at B/E and consider a re-entry if we don't have follow through on this pop.

Maybe a dip to 50. Maybe. I don't see this making a new low today, but I may easily be wrong.
