Luxury watch makers want government assistance.....absolutely mind boggling

None of my watches are accurate to 3s/week! I have a winding box but I often have to adjust once a month.

Luxury watch makers want government assistance.....absolutely mind boggling

I have a few "vintage" watches, but they were gifts. All my watches except one I bought NEW or Pre-owned/unworn. You can say more of a hobby. I like to buy them right and keep them. It is a bonus that my daughter likes to wear them. I bought the IWC and Omega this year. I'm done for now.

I have a watch wish list. Anyone else have one? Omega Speedmaster DARK SIDE OF THE MOON https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watches/speedmaster/dark-side-of-the-moon/catalog A. Lange & Söhn LANGE 1 TIME ZONE https://www.alange-soehne.com/us-en/timepieces/lange-1/lange-1-time-zone IWC...

My best guess, 1947. Bad picture. The watch is clean but unpolished.

Luxury watch makers want government assistance.....absolutely mind boggling

If I had to pick only one watch brand to buy/wear/own for the rest of my life, it would be IWC. IMO, Rolex is overhyped and way too expensive for a watch with a typical complication of only day and/or date. Yes, very well made and they look great. I know they hold their value and are easy to...

Luxury watch makers want government assistance.....absolutely mind boggling

I have heard there are die hard Grand Seiko aficionados. I was not aware of that part of their brand until recently. 47mm is a beast. Might be a little too big for me and I prefer watches over 40mm.

Luxury watch makers want government assistance.....absolutely mind boggling

My most unusual watch (not the most expensive) is my Breitling Emergency watch with the military 243 MHz frequency, but without the military dial. Most had the French Air Force insignia. On this one, they swapped it out to get approval in the USA from the FCC

I never wanted a Rolex, but the Patek Philippe Calatrava is cool. Which model?

Luxury watch makers want government assistance.....absolutely mind boggling

I'm sorry they are not Rolex, Patek, A. Lange & Söhne, or AP. They were my choices. What do you have?

I can't read the article because I do not subscribe. I've done my part to support the industry with my 3 Breitling, 1 Frank Mueller, 1 Omega, and 1 IWC. I also have an old 1955 Vacheron Constantin and 1940' era Mickey Mouse watch, but they were gifts.

“ Options Trader Spends $9 Million Betting on September Volatility Spike”

You read this I see a few possible reasons why. 1-The spread is a low risk with a low chance of success. The size of the trade is huge to us, but the manager could be running $500mm and this is a small trade. 2- The manager has a large, long portfolio and required a hedge to hold it. We will...

Thinking about starting a small hedge fund

I Agree. Maybe a few SMA with friends and family. Not a fund with $25mm or more.

Thinking about starting a small hedge fund

If that is similar to a First loss program in the USA, then yes. I'm not a fan. An example without any names, is you provide $1mm in a pooled asset in their name. They give you $10mm of BP for an approved strategy. They claim after 1 year of good performance they will help you start a fund...

Thinking about starting a small hedge fund

Running and managing a hedge fund is running a business where profits typically come from trading or investing. Not everyone has that skill or background. The same way a great home cook might not be very good at running a new restaurant. If you have gone through the CIA, worked in kitchens for...

Thinking about starting a small hedge fund

I do. I do right now with two funds. I have read through about 20 tear sheets or more to find them and they were all 2/20.

Thinking about starting a small hedge fund

Since I have experience with Cap Intro, have Hedge Funds as customers and have invested in a number of Hedge Funds, CPOs and CTA with my money, I can tell you 100% that is not accurate. The 2%/30% is possible but uncommon, but the "reveal nothing to them," a big NO. There are a few types of...
