Luxury watch makers want government assistance.....absolutely mind boggling

I'm having an extremely hard time understanding how luxury watch makers who sell watches for hundreds of thousands of dollars and millions is asking for a handout. Something is very very very very wrong here, the mark ups on these watches is astonishing, where are the profits going???

I can't read the article because I do not subscribe. I've done my part to support the industry with my 3 Breitling, 1 Frank Mueller, 1 Omega, and 1 IWC. I also have an old 1955 Vacheron Constantin and 1940' era Mickey Mouse watch, but they were gifts.

i wouldn’t call those two luxury watches, at best they make accurate timepieces. but just like any matured industry, they hire lot of skilled workers and pay taxes, so it is ok to ask government to give it a break.

3 rolex bought with own money and 1 calatrava from my wife as wedding gift long ago.

the point is that swatch got lot of brands, they run equally accurate, small players will die naturally.

My most unusual watch (not the most expensive) is my Breitling Emergency watch with the military 243 MHz frequency, but without the military dial. Most had the French Air Force insignia. On this one, they swapped it out to get approval in the USA from the FCC

what does accuracy have to do with it? Both make tourbillons and minute repeaters and are clearly in the luxury segment.
