Luxury watch makers want government assistance.....absolutely mind boggling

i’d consider richemont group watches to begin, omega and grand seiko are exceptions.

i met a watch trader in hong kong decades ago and he bought probably 10-20% of certain “extremely expensive” watches and flipping in the grey market, before ebay time that was.

I have an SLGA003 Spring Drive (green dial) and the hi-beat 600m diver (can’t recall model). 47mm, same case for both.

A first in Singapore, a gang of Chinese on tourist visas broke into 10 houses before 3 were caught on cameras and apprehended before catching their flight back to China.
The gang had managed to steal over $3M worth of cash, jewelry, luxury watches and bags.

I have heard there are die hard Grand Seiko aficionados. I was not aware of that part of their brand until recently. 47mm is a beast. Might be a little too big for me and I prefer watches over 40mm.

If I had to pick only one watch brand to buy/wear/own for the rest of my life, it would be IWC. IMO, Rolex is overhyped and way too expensive for a watch with a typical complication of only day and/or date. Yes, very well made and they look great. I know they hold their value and are easy to sell, but I buy watches to own or share with my daughter. I do not trade them. The only watch I ever bought to own for a few years and sell was a Rose gold Parmigiani Fleurier chronograph that listed for $20K. The distributor did not want to many listed on third party resale online marketplaces. The Brand was very new. So, when a owner wanted to trade up to a $50K one, he bought it for $10,000. It was almost new with box and papers. He sold it to me for $10,100. I wore it for 3 years and sold it for $10,000 to one of his customers.

My best guess, 1947. Bad picture. The watch is clean but unpolished.

I've got a still running Seiko Automatic that I bought for $27, in a little shop on Gate 2 Street in Koza, Okinawa, in '68. That worth anything?? (I wear it when I go out dressed up to rub elbows with the muckey-mucks in case anyone inquires about my watch... )
