I get the importance of the Sharpe measure, but I don't really understand the above. At what point does the hold time exceed the expertise of the firm ?

I've asked this question because I had a trading strategy that showed a nice equity curve with an hourly bar time-frame. However, commissions offset the profits, so the curve went straight down after commissions. But commisions have declined since that time, so I am thinking of dusting it off...

Here's my question: At what point is the trading technique classified as algorithmic vs. high frequency ? In other words, what is the average time-in-trade where it is no longer characterized as high frequency. 100 milliseconds ? 1 second ? 5 seconds ? Also, I've read the articles...

Indeed....$3.19 held and now we are up a few pennies to $3.24. Looking at the charts....this thing has just been so range-bound lately.

China has EVERYTHING to do with the price of copper. Of course, the generic "supply and demand" situation always dictates....but we are talking SPECIFICS here. Remember: Speculator Dennis Gartman has been a copper bull.....for quite some time.

It's been a strange-at-best market. With the emerging market crisis, this thing should be way, way under $3.00. It's really a conundrum as Europe is reflating.....and the slowdown China could be temporary. Suddenly, this is not a clear and definite short.
