    Trading: Exhausting!!

I use alerts too, and then try to walk away and do other stuff. I don't want to get consumed by trading, which I can, if I sit there all day.

    Meditation and trading

Yes! In the end the books and courses just lead us to sit with our feelings and deal with them. Reading about it really doesn't fix it. Bummer, because that would be much easier!

Not really! Three different paths to one outcome.

    Meditation and trading

fREDERICK Frederick, I have used a similar technique working as a coach for years, but there are now many teachers helping people with this type of -- and you can do it yourself. There is one excellent book I know of that teaches this, "Whatever Arises, Love That," by Matt Kahn. This is all...

    Meditation and trading

There is a way to remove stress so it doesn't have to be forever managed. At the risk of attracting attacking feedback from you guys, I will share it! Sit in a comfy chair daily for 15 minutes (or start with 5 and work up to 30) and let yourself feel all the PHYSICAL sensations like those...

Best "trading psychology" book you have ever read?

"Trading beyond the matrix" Van Tharpe. I don't think books help traders that much, it is like trying to learn to ride a bike by reading about it. Your psychology doesn't change by reading about it.

    Missed opportunities

I had to chime in! This is funny (or not so)! I can relate, but I must say in the meetups I go to there are women there, although in the minority. It helps that I run the group! :) It is definitely a male dominated field with a lot of assumptions, and sometimes I just smile and listen. There are...

    Missed opportunities

Well said. I so agree. I think the way we talk to ourselves is key. I am still working on it. I am much nicer to myself than I used to be and more aware of it all, and it helps.

Meeting with local prop firm. Good questions to ask?

    This is interesting! Thanks.

Good for you. You are one of the lucky ones!

Meeting with local prop firm. Good questions to ask?

Profitlocker--I guess it depends on the trader. In my experience talking with traders and seeing where people struggle, the mind seems to be the hardest thing to overcome. I think some of this is because we don't even know what is going on inside our minds. The unconscious controls a lot of what...

Meeting with local prop firm. Good questions to ask?

Just another thought. If you are aware of the risk, are studying and using a simulator to trade (which many refuse to do), are being careful, creating your plan, and hopefully sticking to it, etc. then your odds are already (significantly) higher than the 1%. Not sure how much higher, but...

Meeting with local prop firm. Good questions to ask?

I see this in the opposite way--that proper knowledge and method is definitely needed, but what most won't grasp, and is by far more difficult, is mindset. This shows up, for example, when a trader keeps doing the same dumb thing over and over and can't seem to stop, even though they know the...

Meeting with local prop firm. Good questions to ask?

I "keep encouraging" this because the MINDSET IS the reason most of the 90-95% of failed traders fail. Yes, of course you need a strategy, plan, etc. and many traders neglect that. But it isn't enough, most of the time.

You are entitled to your opinion. But, that's all it is, an opinion. I gave him mine.

Meeting with local prop firm. Good questions to ask?

Hi ItradeRisk, I thought I would share my thoughts on the trading part of your venture, rather than the prop firm part: 1. It is great you are even asking these questions. You seem open and like you want to do it right. 2. Also excellent that you were successful at poker. I think the two can be...

    Biggest Trading Challenge?

Thanks for mentioning this book. I haven't read it yet, but will put on my list. I read, "Trading Beyond the Matrix" by him and really liked it. Some of the content may seem a bit out there or too spiritual for some, but I resonated with it and think it can be really helpful stuff. It's probably...

    Biggest Trading Challenge?

I think this is one of the biggies for traders. It is for me too. I think a lot of it is what does it mean?? ("I am a loser" vs. just having a trade not work out! It is a big difference.)

    Trading: Exhausting!!

That's my experience too. Also, the longer I trade, the less disciplined I tend to be. I do best to set alerts for price hitting my level and go do something else in the meanwhile. Just me. . . I focus better in shorter spurts!
