Quote from AAAintheBeltway:
I have been here a long time. The level of discourse in P&R has never been lower. Thoughtless and crude name-calling has taken the place of intelligent debate. Posters' positions on issues can be accurately predicted merely by the title of the thread. It is becoming more and more of a chore to wade through this crap. Perhaps Baron needs to step in before one of ET's best features is ruined beyond repair.
Having said all that however, I must admit that P&R is merely reflective of our society and the state of political discourse in the country at large. We don't debate any more. Positions on all major issues are set in stone, and the goal is to discredit the other side through name-calling, mud slinging and demagoguery.
At the newbies.
I forgot AAA, the philosopher king of P&R. He is a conservative, but not a neo-con. Today's conservatives are actually yesterday's liberals, but I will let you research that on your own.
Hint: neither Newt or Rick are conservatives. Only one conservative actually ran. He got no air time.
