I agree, that the Republicans have become a joke in regards to fiscal responsibility and you could argue that Bush has been the most socialistic President to date.

As bad as it's been the past 8 years, wait until Reid, Pelosi and the rest have unchallenged control.

The money that will be redistributed in the names of "economic stimulus", "fighting global poverty" and "climate change" just might sink this ship completely.

On the other hand, it may push us to a breaking point. Hopefully the American people are smart enough to make the right choices at that point. Reform by lowering taxes/reducing goverment, or reform by socializing 100% are probably the two choices.

I go back and forth daily on my confidence in whether the people will make the right choice.

I used to think that people might suddenly wake up. But then I read a recent series in The Detroit News about why Detroit was in such bad shape. Despite a 50+ year downtrend, they are still blaming the same people - those who left, not those who are there and are directly responsible for all the problems. Two and a half generations of urban decay, and they are still doing exactly the same things that keep themselves in misery.

One would think that after watching Germany be seperated then united and seeing the amazing contrast of a state controlled economy to a (more or less) free one would be enough to make big government a joke. But most people still think they can pick the pockets of the people above them and get something for nothing. We really should have a president from some oil company in Nigeria.
