Yukoner's 2015 Psychological Journal

@J_Smith certainly we can discuss it, but we will need to do that in a new thread, as this one I have tried hard to keep specific to Trading Psychology. I don't mind discussing trade setups. (just not in this thread) What I have found, is you can give the most perfect ever trading system to a potential trader, and most likely that person will fail at it... because 80% of trading is a mental game. In other words, the holy grail is inside of us...

I'll open a new thread and tag you in it. Thanks.
Yes, a good idea. I beg to differ with some of the psychology stuff, and it should become apparent why as the discussion progresses. If I was to ask a simple question like so;
"What do i really need to learn in order to be consistently profitable", I would imagine that I will get different answers from different traders, but, which answer is the one that I really need to know so that I can make more money than I lose?

He is your exact match – in every way

Need to embrace him…, accept him.., and invite him along

Thanks @Redneck ! Appreciate the encouraging words... going to sign off soon as per the Mo steps, but I have a question...

How do I embrace him... accept him.. and invite him along??
(Wouldn't mind loving him too)

That is what we are working towards.

MO is correct - that is the goal (and must be)

Follow the plan and you will most likely get there.

This may.... or may not work

Our other is equal in every aspect - any given day / trade - he is quite capable of fucking us

How do I embrace him... accept him.. and invite him along??

(Wouldn't mind loving him too)

Treat him as you would one of your children - in that you;

Spend dedicated time with him on regular intervals

Talk - openly and honestly with him - ask he do the same

Where ever the conservation goes - it goes

Be accepting..., non judgmental..., sincere - ask the same from him

Forgive him - ask him to forgive you

Tell him you love him - warts and all - ask him to love you - warts and all

Reassure him you are there for him..., ask him to reciprocate

Lean on him..., let him know you depend on him - ask he do the same

Let him know you will fuck up - ask him to be accepting and understanding - tell him you will be accepting and understanding when he fucks up

=====================

To have a friend / make a friend - we must be a friend

To have love - we must love

To have trust - we must trust

That which we seek - so must me willing provide

=================

You may be able to ride rough shod over your other for a time..., but he will not be bullied - for long - just as you wouldn't allow yourself to be bullied - for long

And as you would bow up..., so will he

Dedicate the time..., make the effort..., have conversations

Nothing premeditated - let the conservation topic(s) go where it / they go

Each conservation will take as long as it takes (some may be lengthy..., others short) - no matter

It just matters - that you set aside dedicated time - have the conversations - acknowledge / accept his being

Yukoner

By now..., when it comes to trading - you know I don't mince words.., nor fuck around

I am as dead nuts serious about above..., as I am about doing our job - every day / every trade

I beg to differ with some of the psychology stuff,

You a bullet proof trader

I am :)

And nothing on a chart made me that way

Admittedly big words - but then I have the ass (mind set) to back up my mouth

Indeed you would get different answers - because each trader is different

The answer you need - is the one that works for you

Same as "it" is for each of us

eta;

But no matter what "it" ends up being - fact is; "it" must be done / applied - consistently..., and repeatedly - irrespective of the trader

(meaning = no matter what the trader thinks / wants/ likes / dislikes / feels / whatever = simply does not matter / factor in)

=====================

Not arguing J_Smith - truth is..., I'm a simple minded dumbass redneck - so what do I know (really ;))

Happy Weekend All

Hi Yukoner. I've been following your thread and am quite enjoying it and I wonder if I may ask you a question.

You say that you have a thoroughly tested trading plan, and since this journal is about psychology, the difficulty that you're trying to overcome seems to be simply trading the plan as you should.

So going forward with this, do you ever go over the day to see what the profits might have been if you just followed the plan? I'm not sure what a completely rock solid trading plan looks like and if it should be so automatic that you don't really have to make any decisions in real time. But if your plan is specific enough, then should it be possible to just look up any old chart and figure out what the profits would have been if you just followed the plan that day?

Perhaps the plan does have a little bit of wiggle room and some areas might be open to interpretation, meaning that if this exact same day repeated twice, months apart even, you could have two different outcomes but still say that you traded your plan as you should. But other than this, should it be possible to figure out how the day should have gone if your rules are specific enough that you can mechanically apply them to the data at the end of the day?

RN,

No. I have been hit with rubber bullets, single shot and machine gun fire, each time I have been injured, sometimes very seriously.

Hell, I was even hit by a sherman tank a few times, and still lived to tell the tale!

I like the way some posters use abbreviations for their names, so I think I will start signing off as JS. It does make it that bit more personal and polite, which is the way it should be.
