I all I know is that I have researched many of the claims about the chruch.

First it was a long time ago. Second, much of the anti chruch literature and research came out of the reformation. The research and the statements were far from unbiased. Now we have seen pro Catholic chruch authors write back. And some of that is clearly biased and some of the that tries to be neutral and academic but is it really.

It is very hard to know what is accurate but you can be sure most of what you read is not accurate unless you have done a great deal of research.

Man this is one slick book! I just pulled it out of storage, read a few paragraphs, and was reminded why it's one of my all time favorites. Lo and behold, the whole thing is online!

As far as channeled messages I, as you can imagine, do not trust them nor do I think there's any compelling reason to trust their accuracy level. How, for example, do you know if it's not out of their imagination? And for those that are actually channeling a spiritual being, how do you know you can trust that spiritual being?

Sure jem, but are you using the 'charismatic" style of research, as prescribed by shoeshine , where all manner of evidence is noted, researched, examined, and THEN-subject to some laughable criterion of "what the prayer group said" to establish veracity?

all well and good to research all sorts of things, but at the end of the day, you are using the bible for reference-when it was never, never should have been, and still shouldnt be a reference for anything.

Apart from, perhaps, a clear mandate to satan's cohorts as to how they should act, how they should organise society, and all that stuff.

Seriously? Why wouldn't I trust my friends? I'm sure you trust most of your close friends. Can't Christians do the same?

The meeting before last, one of the women in our group shared how her father, who was a strong Christian, reached the end of his life. The last three months he began to see angelic beings very often. He would sit with his eyes open and talk to them. This friend of mine would do other things in the room but not write down anything that was said. But one time she asked him what he saw and who he was talking to. He said, "You don't see them, honey? They're right there." She said, "No. What are you talking about, Dad? What are they saying to you?" He answered, "They're not trying to talk to me. They're talking to you..."

Anyway, she had story after story about those last three months. She said she is absolutely convinced he was seeing angels because his mind so lucid even to the very end. Furthermore, although a strong Christian, he was never charismatic, i.e. his faith did not emphasize the supernatural.

Now, of course, I would never submit these stories as proof of the angelic. But I would ask you the question: "why would I disbelieve my friend? And how do you know that her Dad really didn't see angels?"

Well, I don't know what to say about the "alignment" part of it all cuzz I don't even know what they're talking about. But it's not that unlikely that a guy would look like Cayce and then end up wanting to be like him (or even be him) imo...

Here’s another example:

One of my friends in the group has had recent contact with a Pakistani missionary. The man has had his life threatened many times and has even been imprisoned. After he was let out of prison, one of the Muslim men told him that “you are ‘the man that Allah protects’ We have tried to kill you many times.” According to my friend, this man told him that the Muslims in his part of Pakistan are almost completely devoid of supernatural power. If they need a healing or a demon cast out, they come to him. And, according to my friend, he prayed for his son and the son had significant and immediate improvement in his health.

So, again, why would I not believe my friends? I know this man quite well, and if there’s one thing I know about him: he’s not a liar (or even an exagerrator)…

Hmm, ok.
Well, a freind once told me, regarding a shotgun, " oh yeah, its unloaded, no probs".

It wasnt unloaded=bad.
Is this an example of
a) poor firearm safety

b) someone lying, or exagerrating

c) checking something out for oneself, by your own due diligence and objectivity, regardless of what freinds might have said.

Heres a question-are christians allowed to have freinds, outside their "group" as you put it?
