Fox News reporting Colin Powell fully vaccinated has died from Covid
He was a damn good soldier and a war veteran (Vietnam) but I didn't like his politics involving his inaccurate justification of the Iraq war and it resulted in him resigning.
He had some health problems prior to getting vaccinated and I think he had not had the booster to help those that were immuno-compromised. It's another reason why those most vulnerable should be surrounded by those that are fully vaccinated as an additional protection for those most vulnerable.
- War and politics...a slippery slope to navigate.
I'm curious what Covid vaccine he was fully vaccinated with and if he had recently been outside of the states prior to his Covid breakthrough infection ???
- Overall, breakthrough infections are less than 1% of those that are fully vaccinated here in North America. Colin is the unlucky 1% due to his prior health problems.
----------
A new study from the CDC published Friday finds that people who are vaccinated were far less likely to develop COVID-19 and to be hospitalized or die from the disease.
Compared to people who were not vaccinated, people who were vaccinated were five times less likely to develop COVID-19. They were 10 times less likely to be hospitalized and die from the disease.
A New York Times report used data from U.S. areas with detailed information on breakthrough cases. It estimated for most vaccinated people, the risk is about 1 in 5,000 for breakthrough infections. In areas with a low transmission rate, it’s about 1 in 10,000.

So you're basically saying the vaccines don't work.Powell was the prime example of why universal vaxxing to reach herd immunity & prevent the spread are important.
So you're basically saying the vaccines don't work.
Powell had multiple myeloma.
My guess is that would have put him first in line for a vax.
You can bet he was, and you can bet he had both #1 and #2 right on time.
One could say then, it must not be a very good vax.
I don't believe that.
But if Covid did do him in, then what's the point of getting a vax anyway?
And what kind of vax allows the vaccinated to carry the disease after being vaccinated?
None we've had in the last 100 years.
Right?
Right.
Case closed.
Hopefully you're just joking because it's a flawed statement...

Then why is the US Congress exempt from the vaccine mandate!?
Judges and Pfizer CEO are also exempt. So as 99 employee companies.Did you miss the part where I said "I don't believe that"?Hopefully you're just joking because it's a flawed statement.
The point of getting the Covid vaccine is that you increase the odds of you not being hospitalized, ICU admitted, or Death in comparison to not being vaccinated.
Also, we all know that vaccines do not have a 100% efficacy. There has never been a vaccine in the history of vaccination with a 100% efficacy nor maintained > 90% effectiveness after 6 months.
- In North America (Powell died in North America), most of our Hospitalization, ICU admission, and Deaths have been those not vaccinated.
- Therefore, there will be and have been breakthrough Covid infections (less than 1%) here in North America that needed hospitalization.
Powell was the unlucky 1% but only because he had an underlying medical condition that made his vaccination, even more, less effective... the reason why he needed a booster shot but never had a chance to get one.
- As of October 12th, we've had 24,717 breakthrough Covid hospitalization for the 187 million fully vaccinated...that's 0.0132% and most do survive in comparison to those not vaccinated / hospitalized.
Thus, as a precaution, if your immune compromise...those that interact with you should be fully vaccinated and/or wear a face mask.
Powell not only had multiple myeloma...he was currently in treatment for it and that would imply his white blood cells were dangerously low. That precaution I mentioned should have been strictly enforced to ensure his safety by those that interacted with him.
It reminds me of my mom when she had cancer treatments about 25 years ago...she came home and we all had the wear a face mask when we visited her at her condo because she was extremely immune-compromised.
- Simply, a damn good veteran / person died because someone that he interacted with either was not vaccinated or did not wear a face mask.
In fact, my sister had a very bad cold...she made the decision to not hug our mom and only talked to her outside (not indoors)...at that particular time, my sister was just starting your nursing program at college.
It was a very wise decision because a few weeks later my sister was diagnosed with a contagious URI (Upper Respiratory Infection). Had she not been that careful, she'll most likely would have passed that contagious infection to our mom and it could have resulted in a negative outcome for our mom.
Today, we have Covid...something that's much more deadly.
Don't try to weaponize Powell's death...its a shitty behavior.
