Your Mandatory Covid-19 Vaccine

They're vaccinated so why would they care about someone who's taken precaution to reduce exposure? Vaccine hesitation to a record time developed vaccine with unknown long term effects isn't just an anti vaxxer issue.
The reason they should care, and the reason all of us should care, is that those selfish holdouts who are free riders on the rest of us are dooming the rest of us to a lifetime of covid booster shots as the virus continues to find new hosts and continues to mutate. Whereas if virtually everyone is vaccinated, now, before we have wide spread vaccine resistant variants, as we do with influenza, we will wipe out this virus in the U.S. for lack of a host where it can propagate and jump to another host. Not only should we require vaccination of all U.S. citizens, we should also make vaccination mandatory as a condition to entering the United States. The same way we get yellow fever vaccinated before we travel to certain regions. There is no constitutional right to remain a public health treat at one's option.

In the history of human kind, we have never been able to so rapidly produce and so rapidly distribute not just one new vaccine, but several, and of two types. The result is millions of individual datum from which to assess, with very high confidence, the both the safety and efficacy of the Covid vaccines.

Same Biden that said you can't get sick if vaccinated? That Biden? :)

This might actually be a good thing as government spending will drop as positions can't be filled and folks can find jobs in the private sector (which is on fire for hiring right now).
Biden was incorrect when he said that. The facts are that the doubly vaccinated have a small chance of becoming ill from Covid, a very small chance of needing to be hospitalized, and a vanishingly small chance of dying from Covid. The correct statistics to back up these statements have already been posted in another thread. The chances of someone who has not been fully vaccinated dying from covid once infected is 1800 time greater than
the chance of dying if doubly vaccinated.

What about the "plague rats", your term, not mine, that are crossing the border daily. Any punishment for them?
Seems attacking American citizens is the chosen method to fight Covid while allowing tens of thousands of infected non citizens to enter freely. Gee, can't imagine where this new spike is coming from. All part plan being implemented by the infect America war room at DC command central.

Read what I said. Back in April, when we had barely heard of breakthrough cases and assumed vaccines were more effective against variants than they actually are, why would I have cared a vaccine hesitant person (not to be confused with anti-vaxxer) who is taking all the precautions recommended by the CDC (masking, hygiene, distancing) wasn't taking a vaccine (I recommend the MIT spread mitigation paper given these guidelines)? The end result we have is still close to what we expected, those vaccinated may still get sick, but will live to tell the tale, much like we do w/the flu. So again, why would I have cared if I got immunity against "just another flu" I'll survive through?

This virus is here to stay and might as well resign to that. Any odds of stamping it out were long gone given what we knew of the virulence, lack luster response by several countries, the childish behavior of many around us (anti-maskers, anti-vaxxers), and the spread around the planet.

I opted to vaccinate after some reading that assuaged my long term concerns. I'd be lying if I didn't tell myself I'd have higher hesitation and was ready to mask up for 2 yrs (reasonable period in my mind to gauge long term concerns) had Trump won, given his jawboning of all agencies fighting COVID. I suspect we'd have seen a similar response from the democrats had that been the case. See, it wouldn't have mattered if the emergency authorization was driven by science when Trump's saying "I made them sign off on it", or if the science truly reported high efficacy when Trump's saying "hide bad numbers".

We were lucky Germany developed the 1st vax, and in my case, I determined the data was sound given other countries' reporting as I felt our own health agencies had been compromised by politics. Other vaccine hesitant are not as quick to find that info and/or jump to those conclusions. There was added assurance Biden took over as I suspected whistleblowers wouldn't be hounded and competent people would be running the agencies rather than yes men.
