I miss the analogy here. Are you referring to the non linearity in payoff profile of options? At the heart of the issue of this new score is the desire to turn college admissions from equal opportunities that are based on merit to equal outcomes where suddenly shady operators suggest that a college's highest goal ought to be the adjustment for race and parental income equality in the make up of the class body.

Perhaps, but that remaining 1% certainly makes a hell of a lot of difference in athletics and basketball for example. Or do you think it is mere coincidence that black players dominate the NBA for decades? Or perhaps black guys just spend more time to play with balls and baskets in their free time because there is nothing else to do in their drug infested neighborhoods? I strongly believe the former, that different DNA between Caucasians and Blacks to a large degree explains the performance difference between black and white basketball players. And this is only the DNA part, differences in culture also play a large part in early life choices. Filipinos for example have an entirely different sense of work ethics and moral values than Japanese on average.
