No one saw it coming. I was like "no fuking way" after Florida and knew it was over around that time one of the key states had turned (can't remember which, Pennsylvania maybe)
I still believe it was a hail Mary win fueled mostly by voter apathy and low turnout from the left. Trump will at least teach people a lesson to not take democracy for granted and to do their civic duty.
It also makes me wonder if one of the Republican strategies was to feed that apathy somehow. They play dirty but get the job done (planting the idea of a communist dictatorship if the left wins for instance to get their base out). I wholeheartedly believe voter ID is just another ploy to fix the game and are just prepping for 2020 even if the measure makes sense at face value.
Democrats have to push for electoral college reform, roll back citizens United, dismiss Gerrymandering and find a way to deal with this ID stuff (using federal funds to get people said ID for instance), or amending some gun registration thing to expose the hypocrisy. They also have to up their psychology game like the right does, exploit the mob mentality for all its worth.
Republicans can steal the Hispanic vote if they do a 180 on immigration, but there's money tied up in the private prison system so who knows.
I'd rather see compromise and civility but those days are gone until the money's pulled out of politics.
