Your Fav Led Zep song

Quote from cstfx:

Yes, these artists hate, absolutely hate it, when these old white men go out and purchase the "new, improved" digital version of 20 - 30 yr old music at prices in excess of $100 for a box set with "new" art. Forcing some of these "leftist" artists to take their residuals/profits from album sales by the only group of people who pay suggested retail price don't actually download the stuff illegally just makes them want to puke, but for the sake of their art, they will take Joe Red State's money, because they are paving the way for a younger generation of artists to make it in this world.

*Coming Q2 '09, newly remastered digitized version of concert movie "Song Remains The Same" with improved graphics and Dolby 5.1 sound in Blue Ray digital format. Any of you who purchased the now obsolete DVD version (which replaced the older Laser Disc version, which itself replaced the archaic VHS tape) can now plan to upgrade (again) to the new, better edition. I can hear Page, Plant and Jones bitching about it now.

I think Eddie Murphy summed it up best about hypocritical artists and their target audience from an old SNL skit:

Did you think you were bribing the artist you bought the music of?
Typical conservativethink. Did you get something in exchange? I thought so, so it wasn't a charitable contribution was it. No you can buy their stuff all you want they just don't want to know you.
It just a matter of their not sharing your principles.

The fact that you'll get 40 different songs as candidates is testament to the strength of the catalogue from back to front. I heard Page say in an interview that he was more proud of this than anything else they achieved.

Lots of people call In Through The Out Door the exception... but not me.

Quote from Pa(b)st Prime:

I'd list it high but as a Chicagoan it's gotta be When The Levee Breaks.

On second thought I wish a few thousand of those Mississippi crows had drowned down South rather than moving to Chi-town. :)

The kick drum on Levee cannot be denied.
I've been trying to replicate it for years, to no avail.

we got couple 'comedians' that couldn't find their azzes with both hands..

what Zep is my fav hmmm where do i start..

how about here..for starters

Led Zeppelin - The Girl I Love She Got Long Black Wavy Hair

"WHOOOOOOOAA! the girl i loooove. She got loooong black wavy hair... i do declare!!!!

Now, that's a tough question. Tie: Black Dog/ Rock And Roll. The list for second place is huge.

Good Question!! Wow, each song in its own right is definitely classic, probably why they're dubbed top rock band ever, at least whenever Ive heard of local countdowns ect.

Here's a good live "The song remains the same"

when it cums to an edge.. can't beat Zep!

Want to tell you about girl i love...

Sunday morning when we go down to church
See the menfolk standin' in line
They said they come to pray to the Lord
But my little girl, looks so fine
In the evening when the sun is sinkin' low
Everybody's with the one they love
I walk the town, Keep a-searchin' all around
Lookin' for my street corner girl

I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I SAY I GOT A LITTLE WOMAN BUT SHE WON'T BE TRUE!

In the bars, with the men who play guitars
Singin', drinkin' and rememberin' the times
My little lover does a midnight shift
She followed around all the time
I guess there's just one thing a-left for me to do
Gonna pack my bags and move on my way
Cause I got a worried mind
Sharin' what I thought was mine
Gonna leave her where the guitars play

I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I got a little woman and she won't be true

(Hey hey what can I do)

I said she won't be true!

(Hey Hey, What can I say?)

Hey hey, what can I do
I got a woman, she won't be true
Lord, hear what I say
I got a woman, wanna ball all day

Did you get one of those big Ludwigs and take all the baffling out of it and loosen the skin? I'm guessing the answer is yes.

: )

Yeah, for years I played a Ludwig with a 24" inch kick, no mufflers.

Tune too loose... no resonance
Too tight... no low-end punch and a hardy assortment of overtones.

This is where I think Jimmy Page was a genius because he knew exactly what sound he wanted out of not only his guitars, but everything else! He was a master at textural layering. I also think he got a lot of help from the room that that track was recorded in if I remember correctly.
