you are the moron here! Why? Because this crisis was brought about by people like you, nobody else. People who are irresponsible in handling money. You blame others because you failed to have sufficient funds in your account? You basically either purchased good you could not pay for, or you failed to manage and allocate your money wisely. You signed up when you opened a bank account and you could have known exactly how much is charged in the even you got yourself into. And dont use an excuse that you THOUGHT the bank will charge you x-days later, fact is you purchased something for which you owed money. As soon as the charge hits your bank account the bank has any right to attempt to withdraw the funds to cover that charge.

The attitude to blame others for your failure is the attitude of a true loser. Enough said. I hope you can reflect on that before you display more of your stupidity.

Oh, and almost forgot, you dont have enough money in your account to even cover your phone bill? What happens when you get sick? Not that anybody should control your spending habits but maybe you want to start saving rather than putting everyone else at risk for things you cannot pay for/ or be able to pay for in time (it comes down to the same thing).

So the phone company charged you too early than they should? So it sounds like they are at fault.

The bank is absolutely right in this. They said they'll charge a fee when you overdraw your account. You did. Though, if it isn't your fault because the phone company ran the transfer too early. So go talk to the phone company and told them you have been damaged because they conducted incorrectly. What's your beef with the bank.

I guess I don't have a soul - but I think it's perfectly reasonably for the bank to charge a penalty when accounts are overdrawn. Of all the bank fees that I think are bullshit, this is absolutely not one of them.

Clue #1 Overdraft protection

If the company that charged you did so early in violation of some written agreement then they will pay the $50 overdraft fee but somehow I think that isn't the case.

You should not have given your bank details for anyone to bill until you had the account funded.

I still don't understand why you think the bank is at fault rather than the phone company. Can you explain why you think it's a "scam" that banks charge a fee when people overdraw their accounts? Or do you think in general (because your case might be quite different) that it's okay for people to try to draw money they don't have out of your account.

Again, it looks like the beef you have is with a phone company that hit your account before they should, rather than the bank.

(finally, I'd suspect based on your mental faculty that the phone company never contractually agreed to wait 10 days. Its probably that it just usually take 10 days for them to process.)

Either way, man up - take responsibility for your own unreadiness. Where's your self respect?

It can't but the way the banking system works, dealing with a charge that can't clear requires a lot more work than a charge that doesn't clear.

Does it really cost them $50 to handle overdrafts? Probably not. The excess is a stupid tax. Now pay up or you get to find out all about ChexSystems.
