Let me give an example that you may know about. If you took a sample and computed its mean, is the mean random variable or a deterministic variable? From the perspective of the sample it may not, but from the perspective of the population is it random or is it not? Do other sources of randomness exist?

So if to your brain the mean of the sample was not a random variable few moments ago, and if you now realize it could be a random variable, does that change your perspective?
Assigning a number to a variable does not change the nature of the variable to which that number is assigned.
