I've never postulated that any religion is better. But at the moment, there's nobody intentionally making mountions of corpses of innocents like the "peaceful" muslims.

There are cartoons and worse about jesus. Heck, Maplethorpe made a pile of taxpayer money making "art" that pissed on christians. There were some words said, but no riots and nobody died. Heaven help you if you print up some cartoons of moe. Riots everywhere. People dead. And the "peaceful" muslims want the cartoonists to be killed. Over cartoons!

There are countless books and movies that are anti-every religion. But if you write a book that is anti-muslim, they'll put a million dollar price on your head. Rushdie is still in hiding. For writing a book. Otherwise the "peaceful" muslims will chop off his head. Make a movie that shows islam in a bad light, get shot.

There is no question that islam is the least tolerant, the least peaceful and the most blood thirsty (especially for innocents) of the major religions.

So don't come here selling your moral relativism that all religions and countries and cultures are equally terrible. Nobody is buying it. If a suicide bomber blew up a plane or a shopping mail today, everybody would suspect the religion of peace. Because it's not, despite the frantic claims of their followers.

How 'bout some stats? Have you been to Malaysia or Jordan? Less violent crime than here.
Maybe true that right now, there is not a major problem in a Christian nation but in the 90's, Rwanda had a sizeable genocide and they are over 90% Christian.

Yeah, it's the religion that's the cause. Underlying economic and political factors play no role.

You said earlier that I am selling some kind of moral relativism. Ever notice that often times religious violence is just a symptom/manifestation of political and economic factors?

There are millions of muslims in the US - according to your logic, there would be daily bombings here.

My issue with your OP is that it ignores Ottoman and European and North American meddling in the middle east - and the consequences of that meddling. The region never evolved on it's own. Constant fighting with outsiders like the Turks, the Russians, etc... stunted the evolution of the nation states there.

Look at Europe's History. It took almost two millenia after the fall of Rome and some of the worlds worst bloodshed for Europe to evolve where it is today. A Nation's borders are drawn in blood. After much violence, the winning tribes/cultures form a country. And then peace ensues. It is a darwinistic process.

Many nations in the middle east have not gone thru that. Boundaries were artificially drawn by the English. Infighting never really settled the questions of who governs what - the English artificially came up with those answers. Government toppling by the US also stunted their cultural growth. Who is to say that if we never helped topple Mossadeq that the Ayatollah would not have existed? That Iran today would resemble a European country and religion not the factor it is today?

I take that back. It wasn't Mapplethorpe, but Andres Serrano. There's so much nasty art being paid for with taxpayer dollars that one can't keep it all straight. Not like we have a huge debt or anything.

Could you imagine if somebody was paid by the US government to make art, produced a photograph of a koran in a jar of urine? There would be riots that made the Danish Cartoon episode look like a literary review. muslims around the world would be going on killing sprees.
