Democrats fought when people wanted to put in specific language to exclude Illegals and to require proof of citizenship... all an Illegal has to do is say he's a citizen and he's insured.. it would be up to some third party, interested party, conservative friend of the court, etc.. to find out he's illegal and to get his care cut off... the health care bill will insure plenty of illegals, little doubt about that... so, yeah, Obama is a lying little pos and I think it's good every time he gets called out for it, appropriate time or not... Democrats do plenty of inappropriate stuff, no sense holding Republicans to a higher standard now, is there?

Byron York was probably the first to notice that last night, Obama made a reference to 30 million uninsured, a change from previous speeches when he said 46 million or 47 million.
Megan McArdle offers some quick math: "45,657,000 people without insurance in the 2007 Census estimate. 12,388,000 of those were foreign born, and 9,737,000 were not citizens, leaving 33,269,000. I assume Obama is leaving room to ensure that no one can claim that he is going to cover illegal immigrants (or for that matter, legal ones). But that still leaves 3 million people unaccounted for."
Reuters writes, "An administration official said the 30 million figure referred to 'total uninsured minus illegal immigrants' and a smaller group of people who fall through the cracks."

Regarding that 30 million claim. Obama said there were 30 million citizens who "could not" get health insurance. That's clearly a lie. Most of them just don't want to pay for it,not that I totally blame them. Many of them are no doubt also covered under state plans that provide care for the uninsured.

Yup. Every single speech prior to last night's quoted the 47MM number, thereby implying coverage for non-citizens (based on the census breakdown). Last night was the first and only time 30MM was used, a tacit acknowledgement that covering non-citizens was a contentious issue. So, for Wilson to shout "you lie" was in response to the hundreds of other times that the administration and its supporters were using the higher number in their speeches before last night. To use the adjusted 30MM number and then say that critics claiming it included non-citizens were lying was clever, but nonetheless a deceitful means to turn the criticism on its head.

They don't want to pay for it because they can't afford to. I'm a 25 year old grad student, and I have no health insurance. I pay for my dentist out of my own pocket. Haven't been to the doctor for a checkup in years. I've worn the same eyeglasses since I was 16.
All of that is fine for now. However, if anything happens to me, like if I'm diagnosed with some major medical condition, I am royally fucked.
You're a delusional 25 year if you think everyone without health insurance is without because they can't afford it.
I went without it for over two years, along with my wife and child. It was a choice.
Perhaps you can't afford it but stop thinking the lenses on your glasses are the same lenses everyone else sees the world through.
If you can't afford (out of pocket) to go to a doctor for a simple "check up", it sounds like you got some serious income issues. With health insurance, I still pay for the first $5000 of my expenses (and another $5000 for my wife and child) with the start of each new year. And by the way, I pay for all my dental costs out of pocket - welcome to the real world.
The whole damn problem with this health care debate, is the notion most people have that they shouldn't have to pay a thing for their own care. It's absurd.
